WhiteSoxfan1986
QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) I have no problem at all with MacDougal starting that inning. It was one of the rare teams I'll say Ozzie made the right move. What? That was Ozzie's biggest mistake of the game.

That's like having to select either L. Lohan or B. Spears to be your 12 year old daughter's role model. Spears to be your 12 year old daughter's role model. If it were up to me Jenks would have started the 9th, but I would have used Aardsma instead of Cliff Macdougal. Jenks should have at least pitched to Hunter though. People forget that Macdougal was the one who loaded the bases (some of that falls on Konerko). Garland sure as hell deserves his share of the blame though. He definately picked a bad time to have his worst outing of the year.

fathom
QUOTE(SoxAce @ May 30, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) Thank you. BTW, I hate sounding like Hawk, but the umps did f*** up his outing. The thing is, Garland is the last pitcher on the team who the umps should play a big role. Especially against the Twins, he just needs to make the opposition put the ball in play. His success over the past few years can be related, in large part, to his improved command.
bjm676
I knew they would LOSE the ballgame. I used to say that I knew they would WIN. But, while watching at work, it was a complete and utter disaster with how that whole inning unfolded. Leading 6-1 and still lose!! I actually laughed when they lost. I'm at the point where this is downright comical.
elrockinMT
QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) 9 games LOST when leading in the 6th inning or later. That is an indictment of a bullpen that is a failure. McDougal was said to be hurt-put him on the DL. Aardsma isn't doing the job and he should be sent to AAA like Sisco. Logan is up in the air (50/50) as far as I am concerned. Thornston is doing the job. Jenks didn't pitch at all versus the Twinkies. I think he should have been in there today in the 9th. We need some guys stepping up in the bullpen and it ain't happening, but also look at our starters the last few games. The pitching has not done the job. caulfield12
QUOTE(daa84 @ May 30, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) i agree....but finding him for that one year....wouldnt you call that a gem? id say in 05 we found 3 gems in cotts hermie and politte...at least for that year, the difference is the twins are smart enough to realize it and replace those guys instead of counting on them like we did Don't forget Jenks, four relievers "discovered" in one season

premo
Ugh, all I can say, is how do you not bring in Jenks? Unless he's hurt and they aren't telling anyone. He's been our best pitcher out of the pen, and should have been in there. I'm not going to jump on the "Fire Ozzie" bandwagon, but that was a piss-poor decision in my opinion. J-MAN
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) Seriously, what part of this series did he lose for us? The offense couldnt produce when needed and the pitching walked over 20 guys. Thats why we lost. It wasnt bullpen moves, it wasnt subbing, it wasnt whatever else you think he is responsible for. The players lost this series, pure and simple. Rock - you get smarter every day ! I couldn't agree with you more - it is painful to lose a game like today's game but it wasn't Ozzies's fault! Along with everything you said - Ozzie didn't throw the ball into the runner going to second or blow the next play. I do wish he didn't bring in Aardsma - that guy should be on the next bus to the minors.
