This team is just not good. Its average at best and their .500 record shows just how average they are. That just may cut it in the NL Central but sure is hell not the AL Central. Can anyone on this forum really say that the White Sox are better than the Twins, Indians and Tigers? Lets start looking to the future sooner than later... I want to start seeing Sweeney, Fields, Hell even Anderson, Owens, Gio Gonzales, more of Massett etc...

Lets face it we will NOT catch the Tigers or Indians with this team. Lets start playing the kids and figure out just who of them can play. Pretty much it can determine what KW needs to address in this offseason. Why should we waist games by playing these veterans with no fire in them? As far im concerned i would just trade Iguchi and Dye right now and get as much as you can for them. The only free agent i would keep is Buerhle.

This was a bad loss.

im trying to think of a loss that was uglier that i can remember....politte walking the winning run was pretty horrible against i think the tigers in the throwbacks unis....either way...8 walks, errors, being out hustled on the bases, getting shut down by a guy we traded for damaso marte, being robbed of a home run by kubel in the top of hte 9th....just a bad bad game in general...

the white sox are in a unique place right now, contending isnt out of the question, neither is selling off buehrle iguchi and dye...thankfully we still have 2 months to decide which to do...the quesiton that is interesting to me is can we still compete in 08 if we trade dye and buerhle....if we do we have alot of money to go and spend on someone (ie arod) or multiple parts (ie hunter, bullpen, 2b)....what is so dangerous is that if we decide to keep those guys we have a billion holes next year...buerhle, dye iguchi crede could all be gone, which further exposes the hole that is SS and uribe...not to mention thome another year older...this team could get in trouble pretty quickly, quite frankly im glad kenny noticed before this year and got danks gio and masset and possible floyd to contribute, cuz those would be even more holes to fill

I can't lie. Today was the day that my hopes for this season took a huge hit. I don't know why, but this game just really, really hurt.

its so hard to be optimistic right now, but honestly i feel like we are playing our worst baseball right now, are still .500 (AMAZINGLY ONLY 3 BACK IN LOSSES IN THE W.C.) and have the easiest stretch of hte year in terms of competition coming up......thank you interleague play, unfortunately, all the teams ahead of us in the standings get to play the s***ty NL as well...but nontheless...a little streak like 5 of 7 puts us in decent shape...i just hope we can do that

I really don't know who to blame, I guess the blame should go to the players as well as the coaches, managers, and the general manager. Ultimately it's the players who have to go out and perform, and Garland was staked to a 6-1 lead and he couldn't hold it. He walked way to many people and that is unacceptable. The offense looked good for 3 innings, but to be shutdown for the rest of the game is emabarassing. Thorton looked good, as did Boone. As for McaDougal, he didn't throw the ball that bad, the defense let him down, Konerko, Cintron and Crede, 2 force plays that should have been made. As for Aardsma, he was hot and cold when he was with the Cubs. But you have to throw strikes and make the guy earn his way on base. For Ozzie to bring him in instead of Jenks is inexcusable. He doesn't know how to manage a bullpen at all. The guys down there are struggling, he should put them in situations where they have the opportunity to suceed. He didn't do that with Aardsma. Jenks should have been brought in. Cooper should share the blame also, because he is the pitching coach, and lately are starters have been struggling and the bullpen has been absolutely horrible. he is the pitching coach and should share part of the blame. Greg Walker, well I think a change is necessary. He can take his "PERFECT STORM" and shove it up his ass. This team is way too inconsistent offensively. Sure we scored 6 runs in the first 3 innings, but after that, nothing. Sure Minnesota has a good bullpen, but come on, not even a hit. It's time for a shakeup, and Walker should be shown the door. This team isn't in a funk or slump. It has a terrible approach to hitting. KW should also be held accountable. He put this team together, he counted on Pods, when he shouldn't have, cause the guy can't stay healthy. He didn't upgrade our SS when he should have. Uribe will never be a good hitter. He has probably the worst approach at the plate. We should have tried to upgrade that postion last offseason. Our bench is weak, Cintron was coming off surgery, Mack is a good role player, but not everyday, Ozuna is a spark plug, but he was playing too much. KW just built this team with alot of question marks this year. He didn't address our weaknesses because he was to worried about how the market was out of whack. He thought he put together a great bullpen cause everyone can bring the heat, but what good does that do when you can't thrown the f***ing ball over the plate!! He just left this team with too many holes, while worrying about the MARKET. The last time I checked we drew almost 3 million fans last year!!

I'm tired of the lifeless Sox we've been watching since 2nd half like the rest of you guys, but I'm not quite ready to give up when June hasn't even started yet.

Let's talk in a month.

you hit the nail on the head with me using that word, sums it up well.

If the Sox can stay within spitting distance...and they currently are...one never knows what could happen. 2005 Indians nearly catching the Sox. 2006 Twins catching the Tigers. Never ever count out the A's. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

I can almost gauruntee by June 30th we will still be .500 team and by then 1 or 2 of the top 3 teams in this division will have ran away with it. I hope they can some how prove me wrong but i just dont see it happening w/ this ballclub.

From my perspective -- and I know others share it -- I absolutely hate the idea of reaching a moment of decision within "spitting distance." What does this mean? Is spitting distance to you 5 games, 7 games, 12 games? You have to be realistic from Williams perspective. Each year brings a different scenario. I don't give a f*** whether Cleveland came back in 2005 or Minnesota resurged last season. Both had a collection of talent which far exceeds ours.

Here's the problem -- next month, there are only two divisional games; both against Kansas City. If the Sox are 7+ games out of the division lead and 5+ out with several teams to jump, we'll hear people suggest "there are plenty of divisional games left." While true, at which point (~June 30th) we should have a good idea where this team is going. Facing a weak National League will either pad our win total, bring us back into the race, or just expose this ballclub. There should be no middle ground.

What's it mean to your if Williams doesn't make any midseason deals, we go to the end with the current team, and still fail to reach the postseason? The best you can hope for is a slew of compensation picks for Dye, Buehrle, Iguchi. And while that wouldn't be bad in itself, it doesn't help us for the next several seasons. Such a decision doesn't help us make up for the talent discrepancy between the White Sox and other ALC teams.
