Chisoxfn
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) I'd give Rowand a 3 year, 18 million dollar deal. The sad thing is he's going to get a lot more money than that. I'd be surprised, too many good CF'ers on the market this year and not many of the major market teams have a need in center. southsideirish
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So we put our best arm in left, our best cf in right and the worst OF of the 3 in center? Where do i sign up? I believe he just messed up RF and LF. Switch those 2 and he has it right. Owens is not a very good CFer at all. In fact he is barely decent in LF. I don't think that OF is very good anyway. There is no run producer or HR threat in that OF and you need that. Now if you substitute Andruw Jones for Aaron Rowand I would agree. Balta1701
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 08:40 PM) Are you going by what he is doing this year only? GENIUS!! Well, no, but look, Jones is another guy I don't want. Jayson Stark was fully correct in his analysis IMO. You're simply not getting the 50 home run Jones if you sign him for the $20 mil or whatever he'll get per year, that Jones probably only was around for one year. You'd be getting a guy who is just as hot and cold as some of the other guys in our order. And you'd be getting a guy who's lost a lot in range. And even if you got the 50 home run guy, for crying out loud, he hit like .207 with RISP that season.
greg775
Why would we trade for Rowand? This team needs a major, long term overall for the future....not Rowand. I'm tired of grinders, I want good players. We could argue this forever about whether it was wise to rid ourselves of Rowand, but how can you say he's not a good player???? caulfield12
QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 12:32 AM) We could argue this forever about whether it was wise to rid ourselves of Rowand, but how can you say he's not a good player???? Because for at least half of his career, Rowand has been closer to a fourth outfielder than a legit, 800+ OPS starter.
