southsider2k5
ya i agree that 100 pitches in 5 innings is a lot. you want to be in the 75 -80 range if you can. we only are alotted 100 pitches as a starter anyway so we all try to minimize our counts as much as possible so we can get deep into games and put ourselves and the team in line for the win. But when you strike out 7-10 hitters in 5 inn. as Neal often does then right there you lose 21-30, assuming of course that every k is in 3 pitches, which is never the case. so actually you are losing around 40-50 pitches with those k totals. the funny thing too is that cotts wants early pitch contact but the hitters have some serious issues with putting his ball into play. thus he k's more guys than he actually wants to. yesterday he threw only 85 pitches i think so if he wasnt coming off the dl he would have gone 1-2 more inn. With his stuff do you think that will change as he hits the majors? Will more players start to put his pitches into play, sort of like Buehrle. KipWellsFan
That's great to see more and more Canadians in the league. Koskie, Morneau, Gueiel, Dempster, Cormier, Walker and I'm sure that I am missing a couple plus future stars like Loewen and Harden

KipWellsFan
WEll my favourite would be Corey Koskie, being from my home province and I once had a few good words with him and received some autorgraphs. Who I think will be the best, I assume you mean of the 2 prospects. I think that will be Harden, Loewen still has a long way to go. Joel you from Canada too? The reason I asked was because I didn't realize that there were that many major leaguers from Canda. I knew about koskie and Larry walker but not the other ones. Welcome aboard, and I am sure I speak for all of us when I say we look forward to hearing from you often. My first question would be have you heard your name being trade rumors with the Mets (for Alomar) or the Yankees (Jeff Weaver), and what is it like to be traded at such a young age? It's so great to see you here on these boards!!! I saw you pitch your junior year at ISU, when I was a freshman there, making it to virtually every Redbird home baseball game that year. I even had the pleasure of meeting you a few times at Linkins Dining Center at Tri Towers. My RA happened to be your team's physical trainer, Andrea White. My props to you and what you're doing. You're making me proud to go to ISU!!!
