Jerry Owens is not a major league caliber hitter.

At this rate.....who is on our roster?

They're all playing like they belong back in AA.

is there actually Cicadas over there? Because I live in the city and I have yet to see a single one of them this whole summer.

In Elmhurst, Hinsdale and that area, they are out like crazy.

Nice glove, open your eyes next time.

Man. What a difference. I remember in DG 17 years ago just walking through the swarms of them. Living downtown, i literally havent seen a single one, not a signle body, not even one crushed on my car.

I live in Downers, and south of 63rd street, you may see a few. North of 63rd street and they are out like crazy.

My brother-in-law brought one over from Westchester in a jar for my daughter to see.

The only one I've seen so far.

Two things:

- Gary Sheffield is awesome right now. Too bad we didn't go after him for LF.

- Ozzie's complaining about Latino players being targeted in the steroid investigation. I never knew Bonds and Giambi were latinos.

Seeing JD "run" for that ball made me cry.

You know, given the small size of our ballpark and the fact that there aren't any wierd nooks, crannies, or corners to deflect the ball, you'd think it'd be pretty hard for guys to actually get a triple in the Cell.

"I meet with, like, five people," Guillen said Wednesday. "The only thing that made me upset was they tried to mention too many Latino players. I think they try to put the Latinos to be the bad cloud in this thing. This thing was bugging me because everything they asked me [was], 'Do you ever see this in Venezuela?"'

BALCO is not [in] Venezuela, is not [in]Puerto Rico, is not Dominican, is not [in] Mexico. BALCO is in California. Then why do [MLB officials] keep blaming players from Latin America for the problem that we have in the States?

Guillen said asking whether players were importing steroids from their native countries was unfair, considering BALCO is based in California.

"They were like, 'You never see any of the players bring this thing to the States?"' Guillen said. "I said, 'Wait a second, BALCO is not [in] Venezuela, is not [in]Puerto Rico, is not Dominican, is not [in] Mexico. BALCO is in California. Then why do you keep blaming players from Latin America for the problem that we have in the States?'"

An Associated Press review in 2005 determined that half of the players suspended that year were born in Latin America.

Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell didn't respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

"From what I've seen of Sen. Mitchell's investigation, he's interested in anyone who might be involved in the use of performance-enhancing substances in baseball," said Rob Manfred, executive vice president for labor relations in the commissioner's office.

Guillen responded to a spring training interview about the subject by making an anti-doping video in conjunction with Major League Baseball. It will be shown to all players that participate in the Venezuelan and Dominican summer leagues, as well as other Spanish-speaking players throughout baseball.

"It bugged me," he said. "That's why I made a video. I made a video [because] I don't want Latin kids to be involved with something."

I wish it was more fun to watch this team.

We are teetering on some historic futility with our offense. 4 games in the win column on the mighty royals.

I honestly can't fathom how this team has any chance at the playoffs. At least Fields gives me something to look forward to every 3rd inning.

KW is a good salesman. Hopefully he can get some talent in return when he does finish his act.

The only chip we have is Buerhle. Thats it.

Dye???? Trading an aged, bad defensive power hitter who isnt hitting doesnt reap the large bevy of prospects.
