fathom
Haha....congrats Tigers for not being a bunch of pussies. Bonderman, Verlander, Miller and Porcello = good night
RockRaines
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) To be honest, I'm not too upset with Aaron Poreda. This is a definite high risk/high reward move. As Phillips says, his secondary move is lacking. Good enough for me
WhiteSoxfan1986
That's why the Tigers will be competing for the pennant while the Sox will be around .500 the next few years.

southsideirish71
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) I'm not too happy with Poreda, but I'm not really too mad about the pick. I guess I have low expectations from the last couple of years. At least we got a guy with upside instead of a #4 starter. Well when you are told that the GM is taking the reigns because he wants to get an impact player this year. This is an impact player, a one pitch pitcher with bad strikeout numbers. We again shy away from a top end guy because he might cost more than our usual ex-football player type.
GoodAsGould
This guys is new to pitching of course his numbers arent going to be out of this world. The reason the minors are present is for guys to work on stuff like secondary pitches. I have no problem taking a guy that can possibly hit 94-97 consistently from the left side. We seem to be an organization that teaches a good changeup/cutter too so we'll see if some pitches are added to his repitore.
RibbieRubarb
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) If Minnesota or Detroit picks Smoker, Griffith, Harvey, or Porcello, we may be in trouble for quite a long time. And if we picked Smoker, Griffith, Harvey, or Porcello all of you would have found reasons to blast the White Sox for those picks too. "They'll get hurt" "Wasted pick...we can't develop pitching" "We'll trade them away" "We'll never sign them"
harfman77
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) Not one losing season in his tenure and one world series... This kid hasn't thrown one pitch yet, but you're ready to fire everyone. Smart. Thank God you're not running this organization or you'd be screaming for your own firing! No organizational depth at any position and marginal pitching depth. Yeah that is a terrific GM. The kid is a one pitch pitcher, he could have been had in the second round just as well. This is too many drafts where we have taken too many low ceiling prospects and the results are showing in our minor league system. This is ridiculous. So we draft another Royce Ring when we need depth at every position, great move. And the Boras thing as to end we are passing on way to many players every year because of their association with Boras, it is time to kiss and make up. The Sox are a mess, the minor league system has little depth, KW has failed at maintaining either, he should go.
Greg The Bull Luzinski
QUOTE(Buck Weaver @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) the highest-ranked non-Boras client on the board. Key and boy am I glad the Tigers have another great pitcher.

"They'll get hurt" "Wasted pick...we can't develop pitching" "We'll trade them away" "We'll never sign them" LOLLERZ. Obviously you haven't been reading the last several pages. Specifically, where I said picking a power arm who never produces for the Sox is acceptable if he atleast gives the club a projectable arm. beautox
KW didn't get the memo, this is an arms race s***head. Porcello = 1337. Callis hit it on the head by saying you spend a couple extra mil you can get the 1337 talent that falls.
RibbieRubarb
Detroit's not that far of drive. Why don't you all pack up and go root for them. I'm sick of this constant bashing that the White Sox cannot do anything right. It is so extreme it's pathetic.
Greg The Bull Luzinski
Kenny Williams draft picks remind me of the Bears 90's Draft pick (ie Salamm, Enis, McNown, Trading for Mirer). And to think of the real players that could have been had. Clap, Calp. Way to improve scouting! Who's up for Round 2?
SoxAce
Minnesota also with a questionable pick. Revere does fit the "piranha" mold though.
