fathom
We always hear the excuse about how the Sox never have a high pick because of their good record over the last decade. Thus, that's why we never have the massive talents in our system. Now, we have the best high school pitcher in the draft fall into our laps if we want, and we don't take him. WhiteSoxfan1986
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Yes they are. Their owner owns a pizza franchise. santo=dorf
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A couple of tidbits hot off the presses: - the Sox never considered Porcello today. There was only one team that contacted him besides the Yankees that picked after #10 - the Sox were leaning to taking Main or Alderson So I guess the Sox aren't the only MLB team with their heads up their asses, or the experts here ASSume way too much. I wonder which one it is.

Greg The Bull Luzinski
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Where on earth did you read that he has arm trouble? GoSox05
Go watch the Tigers and all their great pitchers than. Watch as they go to throw to 3rd base and air mail it.

Watch as they go to throw to 3rd base and air mail it. So we're going to start mocking a team for what they do in the playoffs? I don't get this line of thinking by some on here. The Tigers are one of our main competitors....we didn't want them to add another top-line talent.
winninguglyin83
For the record, i watched Broadway pitch in person last night. one of his better games. went 7 innings, allowed three runs, two earned. only four Ks with four walks. Fastball usually at 87, occasionally hit 88. NEVER HIGHER than 88. Gave up six hits, including a 398-foot dinger by Mark Bellhorn. He looks functional, a fourth or fifth starter, which is what the scouts say about him. Nothing wrong with that, except he was a first-round draft pick. fathom
I still predict the Sox will take John Ely with their next pick.
