White Sox vs. Phillies, 6/12/07 (L)

At this point I'm just rooting for Dye to get hot as s*** over the next two weeks. It seems obvious that teams are interested in Dye despite his slow start, so it'd be great if he could have a nice two-week stretch where he hits .350 with five homers.

Exactly...the main two guys I want to see do well are Dye and Fields. It just amazes me how much of losing mentality this team seems to have. Our starting pitchers seem to do just well enough to lose now, and we're getting no leadership from our manager or veterans.

I will be surprised if someone in the media asks Ozzie about the move, but I would LOVE to hear why he did it.

Reasons the move was dumb.

1.Game is already out of hand

2. Cintron for Fields. Cintron is NOT better in the field than Fields, and from what we have seen this season, he isn't much better with the bat than Fields.

3. Crede just went under the knife. Out for the year. Chances are good he doesn't see a White Sox uniform again. Fields is the very obvious replacement. See what you have. You give him as many AB's as possible.

Ozzie's answer would probably be something like "He's not f***ing Barry Bonds".

Two things:

- Verlander has a no-hitter through 7

- Masset is a 2-game wonder

Fathom, remember how a lot of posters were calling for Masset to be our savior 5th starter after his earlier start of the season. He then returns to the pen and blows up like the rest of them. You sure can't be considering these guys as our saviors on one game and what's been happening shows that. My guess is there will be changes coming again this weekend at the latest.

Abreu with a 3 run homer off of Webb. Too bad the Sox wanted nothing to do with him. \He's now batting .275 and has an OBP around .365.

I still wouldn't want him due to how much money he makes and how much he struggles against LHP. Also, I could really do without having another one of Ozzie's buddies on the team.

I still wouldn't make that deal, the fact that it will cost $16M to retain him beyond this season is a deal breaker. That much money tied up in a player like Abreu would destroy any financial flexibility the Sox might have this offseason.

And what are you including along with Dye to get the Yankees to take on some of that deal? That trade would not have helped the Sox win in '08.

I think the more logical posters were saying he should go down to the minors to get some work in as a starter. He's been horrific as a reliever. As people point out, he had the best pitching conditions of any Sox pitcher that start at Wrigley. I'll say this though....thanks Nick for that start!

I have to imagine the Yanks would be willing to toss in a lot of cash in on that deal.

How would Abreu be as a leadoff hitter for 2008?

Why would the Yankees just throw in cash in exchange for Jermaine Dye? The whole idea is to unload the Abreu contract, if the Yankees are including money you're including more talent. THAT does not help this team one bit.

Abreu has said time and time again that he does not want to leadoff no matter how much sense it might make.

Here's the question I have: why in the world would the Yanks do that trade now?

If we traded for Abreu, we'd probably have to give him an extension. He reminds me so much of the offensive version of Javy in that way.

He has a no trade clause so at the very least they'd have to pick up his $16M option for next year.

***NEWSFLASH*****

No one cares about 2 teams that have nothing to do with Chicago. How many titles have the bulls won, and we have people crapping on a losing city being denied a title. Michael Jordan still haunts Cleveland fans to this day.
