Wong & Owens
If it helps Chicken Little from having an embellism, the reason you can have some confidence in Loaiza is A)He has dedicated himself to throwing and prepearing between starts, something he never did before, and B)He added a cut fastball to his repetoire, something he didn't have before. As opposed to Eldred, whose fluke year came from simply being healthy and using what made him successful in the past, Loaiza's success is due to a change in both his committment to being a good pitcher, and adding a new weapon to his pitch arsenal. I think the big question is after this season, when he'll be due to make a LOT more than the league minimum, will he maintain the level of preparation next year? IlliniKrush
One appearance since June 2nd...we are dealing with a 24 man roster here
Soxplosion
I think hes doing great! But hes barely a .500 pitcher for his career. Hes going to come back down to earth sometime. And if hes still our "ace" then, were in trouble...
elrockinMT
Esteban had a bad inning or two. It can happen. The offesne almost pulled him through it especially Jose Valentin who looks like he is "en fuego." Let's not panic just because ELo lost a game. He wasn't going to win his next 30 in a row. southsider2k5
OH MY GOD HIS ERA IS 2.18 THE SKY IS FALLING. That was the 2nd time ALL YEAR that he gave up more than 3 ER in a start. How many pitchers can say that?
whitesox247
Loz will be fine. He isnt just having a lucky year, his stuff is definately improved. I heard that Sandy Alomar was the one that actually helped Loz perfect that great cut-fastball during spring training. Can anyone confirm this? DonkeyKongerko
Lets just pray Loaiza's arm can last a little longer than Cal Eldred's did in 2000.
YASNY
Eldred had a history of arm problems, so it was no surprise when his arm tanked on him. E-Lo, I believe, has not had any arms problems before. So, the odds are with us on that one.
