IlliniKrush
Took him one diving catch to hurt himself in the first. Terrero took his at bat leading off the bottom half.
joeynach
Am I hearing this correct. Is erstad hurt already hurt and out the game. This is getting ridicolous. Can we please get not bring any guy to this team that is even slightly capable of being injury prone. Here comes the company line "we are going to sit erstad for awhile so as better to loose him for 5 days instead of 5 weeks somewhere down the line...". This is so annoying. Balta1701
This is why he should only be used as a backup.

fathom
I feel bad for Erstad. He busted his ass to get in shape this offseason, and then he hurts himself on 2 out of 3 plays. I'm not going to let the idiots running this team and Hawk's crush on Erstad make me not appreciate him.
Controlled Chaos
For the record, he did make a great catch. I agree with Balta, on the back-up comment. That's what I thought he was brought here for and I actually liked the move. Then all of a sudden Ozzie names him the starter in spring training and sits Brian in the corner. I'm not going to let the idiots running this team and Hawk's crush on Erstad make me not appreciate him. No amount of busting his ass was going to make his body able to take the rigors of a 162 game season. He got himself in good enough shape to make another million dollars or so and to play a couple times a week, because that's all his body was going to be able to take. It's sad, yes, but there are some people in this sport who just have taken too much of a pounding to be able to avoid these sorts of injuries. Greg The Bull Luzinski
Part of our problem is that our entire starting outfield this year is made of glass. Erstad's injuries are well documented in this thread already. It is easy to forget the Pods is a member of this team with how long he has been on the DL the last two years. He was even on the DL in 2005. Dye has been running like he is pulling a piano in the outfield and on the bases. His knee problems have not landed him on the DL ... yet. When 1/3 of you line up is hurting or on the DL, how can you expect to win? Who in their right mind expected all three of these guys to be healthy the whole year? whitesoxfan101
He came back about a month too early, so this is no surprise. Meanwhile Pods is in week 2 of his rehab assignment. Awesome.
WhiteSoxfan1986
This shouldn't really suprise anybody, but I thought he would at least last a few games. Punch and Judy Garland
Yeah the struggling bullpen with quality arms like Sisco, Aardsma, MacDougal, Thornton, etc. you can certainly give Kenny a pass on. Nobody was claiming before the season that we had the worst pen in the AL. However, this outfield issue we have was utterly predictable,. Let's say that our outfield was healthy with Erstad, Pods, and Dye and they all played 150 games. We'd STILL have an average-below average OF especially for an AL team

But I agree that with Mac and Thornton it's hard to get on KW, nobody would have thought they'd be this bad.

Let's say that our outfield was healthy with Erstad, Pods, and Dye and they all played 150 games. We'd STILL have an average-below average OF especially for an AL team I disagree. He went cheap, and he went with a lot of question marks. MacDougal has a hard time staying healthy. Aaardsma was only good part of a season in meaningless games with the Cubs. Sisco's numbers with KC last year were worse than Cotts' numbers with the White Sox. Thornton was a bust until last season. Chances are he would fall back at least some. KW went with radar readings over past history and results, and it bit him on the ass. BP was criticized heavily here when they suggested the Sox may lose 90 games. They pointed out the bullpen would have problems with strikes. With a payroll in the top 5 or 6 in baseball its hard to imagine how they can have as many holes as they do. Erstad, Pods, Crede, and Thome getting injured shouldn't shock anyone. You had to expect Dye to step back a little off last years numbers.Maybe not as much as they have, but more like 2005. Granted, everything that can go wrong probably has, but there still is a lack of fire on that team IMO.
fathom
Pods left today's game after 3 innings. I have a feeling he'll get called up, and Erstad will go back on the DL. However, if Pods reinjured himself today, that might be the funniest sequence of events I can ever recall.

greg775
That was one heckuva catch at least. You are all right. He should have been a fourth outfielder. He'd have been better in that role than Mack, who also can't hit. That was one great catch, though. Nice grab Mr. Erstad, good hustle on the play as well. bulokis
This season has been a failure. I cant blame Ozzie for everything but it seems like every move he makes dont pan out. We have guys get injured and then again. We keep blowing leads. Other teams seem to score everytime even if there's two outs. This season is over and KW should realize it soon. P.S. KW, dont listen to Paulie walnuts. Trader Kenny should open for business.

Dick Allen
He has a re-aggravated ankle sprain, so I'm guessing he'll be out a little while more, and is probably an excellent bet on getting hurt a few more times this season. I thought he would have lasted a week. Only off by 6 days and 8 1/2 innings.
