RibbieRubarb
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) By far the lowest point of the season. The same dogs*** hitting, not to mention some bad managing. Instead of always blaming Ozzie...can you tell me specifically to what you are referring??? QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) the Sox have given up on the season, so should you. Then I don't expect to see you around until the off-season. Have a good summer! whitesoxmanager
this is what you get when you remove 'will' from anything in life. AROW was our "will". We deserve every bit of this... Sad but true. I knew this was coming. We usually have a bunch of overachievers, that was the best part of soxfanning. Unfortunately we must bring gamers back into our roster. It could be a while... greg775
This team was, and I think still is, made up of championship caliber players Man, I don't know about that. I know you mean when the team is healthy, but those ragarms in the bullpen are not champ. caliber. Buckwich is no better than Buckwheat. I don't know why the Sox are wasting their time with that guy. I watched today's game for the most part. I have never in my life (except in other Sox games this year) seen so many horrific at bats. Even Jimmy and Konerko. So bad. Fields was OK but then it's time for him to get the big hit. Sorry, tap to third. It's like Murphy's Law every single day. I realize I'm about to get murdered here, but how about Buckwich to the Cub for Jacque Jones and trade some prospect or MacDougal to the Dodgers for Ethier. Ethier and Jones would be better than what we have now, assuming Dye is to be DLed. Be nice when you flame me. I'm as frustrated as everybody else on here and can make dumb trade ideas as well. whitesoxmanager
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> oh god... please tell me this was a joke post. The joke is on us now. Outside of AJ, we are left with aging individual professionals that lack demonstrative leadership. Who on this team currently is manning up and putting the team on his back with his play/attitude? I really liked the Damaso Marte/Aaron Rowand baseball players. I remember one night that Damaso gave up a home run and couldnt believe it happened to him. He really believed he was awesome and showed passion and anger that somebody beat em. Aaron always came to play. I knew he was championship caliber from his play/attitude. AJ is exactly like these guys. IMO we will get alot from the pending deals. We have solid players that just seem to be missing the spark. I get excited to see how guys like Paul Lo Duca, Aaron Rowand, Jake Peavy, Carlos Zambrano, Justin Verlander, Chone Figgins, Joel Zumaya command a certain level of excitement that these players produce from their intense desires to compete, get better, & win. StrangeSox
LOL. If only they had A-Row. Then the bullpen would magically pitch better, the entire lineup would be able to pull itself north of the .250 mark, and the starting pitching would be absolutely lights out. Sorry, Rowand does not belong in the same catagory as players like Zambrano and Verlander. They are actually very, very talented. Rowand is an average player who busts his butt. By the way, Philly hasn't exactly been stellar since A-Row has been there. If he's such a difference maker, why aren't they running away with their division? southsideirish71
This game sucked from the offensive standpoint. The pitching was fine for the most part. The squeeze was pretty obvious that it was going to happen the way that Pinella had pinch runners for more speed during that exchange. The cub fans were pretty funny. telling me that I shouldnt live in the past with my 05 world series hat. I told them I was at game 2, I remember the excitement of the game, the feeling as I walked out to a stadium shaking after a world series walk off. If they wanted to get a feeling of how it was like to be a cub fan in the same situation. Take a shovel, and dig up a relative, or buy a ouiji board. This goes to show how competitive the White Sox organization has been for almost 20 years! But no...fire everybody, right?? Or should we trust them to rebuild for next year? This goes to show how competitive the White Sox organization has been for almost 20 years! But no...fire everybody, right?? Or should we trust them to rebuild for next year? We missed the playoffs 14 of those 17 years, didn't win a playoff game 15 of the 17, and didn't win a playoff series 16 of the 17. Again, I don't get why that is so great. Don't confuse mediocrity with achievement. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Mercy. Today was "That Game" for me. This team has been incredibly hard to watch, but for some reason, it took today for me to finally get that real punch in the gut feeling. I really am embarrassed right now. The product that has been put on the field, the product we as fans are supposed to have SOX PRIDE in, is a joke. I feel lied to by Williams. Kenny promised the fans, "If you guys show up, I will put a winner on this field, I guarantee it." Thats not cutting it anymore. We were promised that the bullpen disaster of 06 was corrected, and we would all be impressed with the new 'pen. Mission failed. Sitting in my seat, surrounded by Cub fans, I was just embarrassed of my team, and it's the first time I have been in a real, real long time. I just don't get enjoyment out of going to the ballpark and watching these guys play, which makes me very, very upset. I've been watching for 15 years and this is the first time I've ever been truly embarassed. I've been angry, irrational, crazy, happy, everything else....but this season is the first time I've been embarassed.

An interesting tibbit in that same article: Scouting update The Sox's streak of 17 consecutive years without a top 10 pick in the amateur draft is in jeopardy with their current slide. Over the past couple years this doesn't stand. The Sox have had opportunities to take top ten talents yet have decided to pass due to monetary issues. That's nobody's fault but their own. I do agree, however, that the streak itself is pretty impresive. Edited June 24, 2007 by CWSGuy406

Carry on... TRUST ME, I know I don't know bad Sox baseball. I'm just saying that 17 years with no top 10 picks thing is deceiving, we've had all kinds of mediocre teams that simply were not top 10 pick bad like this one is. We haven't had some sort of great or even good run the last 17 years, in fact I'd guess 3 trips to the playoffs in 17 years is certainly below average.
