Can KW get some sort of trades going?

That's not the point BearSox. He hasn't developed. And that's really the short and long and end of it.

with the WHite Sox season done, Sweeney should be starting with the big league club. Who cares if he still needs some development. Let him develop in the majors and get that valueable ML experience.

Sweeney isn't ready and Gonzalez is crap. Neither one should be in the majors yet. Sweeney is just slightly more acceptable is all.

EDIT: Of course, if Dye is just missing a few games, it doesn't make sense to have Sweeney starting sporadically, unless they want to put him in CF with Luis backing up. I wouldn't mind Richar instead of Gonzo, still.

Precisely, we benefit more in the long run with Sweeney in the minors at the moment.

I'd much rather not be on the hook for the $5M Jones is owed next season. That money could be used to fill a more pressing need than "mediocre outfielder."

That makes sense, but with this lineup, we are going to lose a maddening amount of games

the rest of THIS season.

It is embarrassing.

Surely they can figure out a way to dump him after the season.

It's Jerry's money anyway and he deserves a 5 mill penalty for this crap we're watching

now.

I read what was said on that site after reading the post here. It quoted Ken Rosenthal. Do you believe any of what he says? That site is just a collection of media rumors anyways.

Rosenthal is the guy who said he talked to Phillies sources who said the Sox could've gotten more for Garcia. Did you believe that?

Well that's good, so you're not pissed off about that then. :)

I did not see Konerko say that, can you help a fellow fan out?

100% correct.

It was on Comcast SportsNite I believe on Thursday night.

The cubs have been trying to dump him for a year now, they attempted to dump him on Colorado and Pittsburgh in the offseason but he's not an easy player to move. I don't see how the Sox could fair any better. The Sox are going to lose just as many games even if they have Jaque Jones misplaying balls in RF and swinging over sliders, if the Sox are going to lose they might as well lose while giving their younger players a chance to play.

Wait, so Konerko said these three games vs. the Cubs are the only ones that matter the rest of the yr.?

Sounds like somethng that's definitely open to interpretation, but I guess it doesn't matter much what he said to be honest.

How is Gonzalez more flexible? He's not an outfielder.

Gonzalez fills the Pablo Ozuna role. An infielder who can be plugged into the outfield. He has even played in center for us this year. Sweeney is not up instead of Gonzalez, because: 1) he would not be playing every day, just as Gonzalez is not playing every day, and 2) he is not an infielder.

Now, if Dye goes on the DL, Sweeney will be called up.

It wasnt clear what Pauly said in the interview. Supposedly he was called into KW's office and he said the team has a shot to make a run. Then not long after he gave that interview where he said this may be the highlight of the season so the guys should make it count. My problem is if the Sox say lets trade everyone (Dye, Guch, Buehrle, crede - if possible with the whole surgery thing) Im afraid we wont get any value back because of how theyre playing (minus Buehrle because he's doing well). You guys know how baseball is, nobody remembers last year, its all about what youre doing now. We have a better shot riding out their slump than getting back anything decent. I mean, where would you even start to fix the bullpen for christ sake? It doesnt matter who they call out during the game, as soon as Ozzie comes out to the mound I want to cry...

I guess.

It's just amazing to me we can't score more than 2 runs a game.

What about Cliff Floyd? I'd take him at this point for a couple months.

Gonzalez is a guy who you can plug in out there in the loosest sense of the word.

The scary thing is that the Sox probably like that he's under contract for 2008. They know they'll need to acquire a vet OF and Jones for 1 year will be cheaper in time & money than a FA would.

Anyway I really hope KW doesn't make trade for the sake of making a trade or to shake things up. A move like acquiring Jones is lateral at best. Patching together a team of mediocrity for 2008 or the remainder of 2007 is worthless to me.
