AWhiteSoxinNJ
Jermaine Dye-OF-White Sox Jun. 23 - 8:56 pm et The White Sox likely will place Jermaine Dye on the DL and recall Ryan Sweeney prior to Sunday's game. Dye aggravated his strained quad Friday and wasn't even available as a pinch-hitter today, so it looks like he's going to need a couple of weeks off. Sweeney will likely play fairly regularly in his place. He could also see time in center when the White Sox use Rob Mackowiak in right field. God, I don't want to see Jaq Jones in a Sox uniform Neither do I. It's about time they called up Sweeney. They must not really like Anderson at all because he's a righty and not being called up. BearSox
There goes just about all of Dye's trade value. Lets just hope someone offers him a contract and we dont wind up getting stuck with him again because we offered him arbitration! Well, a 1st/2nd round pick and a sandwich pick aint that bad. hitlesswonder
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) Way to pull the trigger before something like this happens KW. Great job! Yeah, I'm sure the Dodgers were all set to trade Billingsley for Dye if KW had just signed off. Dye has had OBP under .300 the whole season and has been creating triples for the opposing team in RF. Everyone in baseball can see it. In the case of Dye, it's better to wait and try to get the compensatory draft picks. Dye's trade value has been on a downward spiral since the start of the season, the last time KW had a good chance to deal Dye for value was the offseason and if that had happened, most Sox fans would have thought he went crazy. I'm sure we have been offered a few different packages, and I'm sure Kenny is thinking he shot himself in the foot now that JD is on the DL. GoodAsGould
I know it was rumored but I have a hard time believing we could have got Billingsly for Dye. Im more than fine with recieving the draft picks from him if we cant get a trade done. Buehrle and I guess Iguchi are the guys who need to be moved. And if at all possible Thome and Contreras too. elrockinMT
Lots of rumors and speculation. Dye still has a lot of value and a trade for him might not happen till July or August. Sox probably want to make sure he is healthy and can showcase him a little more to a team needing offense. Buerhle seems to be out of the picture as far as the Sox signing him is concerned and it appears that the only thing holding back a trade is simply weighing the best options. I am sure there will be more. I always cringe though when I hear the fact KW wants minor league talent. I haven't seen many of these minor league talent trades pan out for us. Thome only if you are offered something great. I still think Thome should be one of the main guys we're looking to trade. We're likely not going to be a contender during the rest of his contract, and we could get some very valuable players for him.
Buehrle>Wood
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:39 PM) I still think Thome should be one of the main guys we're looking to trade. We're likely not going to be a contender during the rest of his contract, and we could get some very valuable players for him. Our options are limited to about 3 or 4 teams unless someone wants to take him on as a full time first baseman. Even if those 3 or 4 teams all happen to be interested, it's still a small bidding war.
