Too early to talk about possibility of majors for Hummel, lets wait and see what he does at next levels. He may be hardest thrower in our org and 23 (or going to be this year) so a little old for low A ball. But this is his first full season in the org, drafted last June.

Great Falls has more of the college guys, Bristol more HS, tho it has its share of college guys too. My guess is Bristol is old for its league.

Reality, combined with a long season is setting in. Many players go through a tired period or an adjustment when first getting used to the long season. Colleges play 60-70 games. Counting ST, Ring has been going as long as he ever has. It will be something he will have to fight his way through.

A lot of people don't understand the grind the players go through with the long season. It is not easy, even when you have done it for years, let alone your first time through.

I have a friend that played for a long time and he said that every year he had to make adjustments during the last month of the season because he didn't have the strength he had earlier. His wrists hurt, his shoulder would get sore and his knees would ache. This guy played for 12 years and was in great shape.

As far as the reality part, there is no way he could keep up the success he had. He went through a stretch where he was practically untouchable. Even AA hitters will adjust eventually. Combine that with likely fatigue and his recent performance makes sense.

They are definitely a mixture. Lots of HS guys, some Latin players coming up from the Dom. Summer League and some college guys. Generally, you won't see college guys that are high draft choices hang around too long in short season leagues, but that also has a lot to do with space ahead of them.

There is no shame in a college player having big success in these short-season leagues and not getting promoted during the year.

Lopez is a pitcher that I really like. When I made my own top 50 Sox prospect list I put him on there. He is a big right hander who was drafted out of high school last year. He had a very good year last year, although I don't have his actual stats on hand I believe he had an ERA just above 3, fewer hits then innings pitched, and a good walks:strikeout ratio. He was a starter for most of last year, but has started this year as a reliever/closer. He has yet to allow an earned run in something like 7 innings so far. Keep an eye on this kid as he reaches the higher levels of the minors. Rex, do you happen to have last years stats for Lopez?

Its nice to see Valido continues to hit, but what is up with his D. He made 2 more errors on Sunday. I thought he was suppose to be a defensive specialist?

I wouldn't worry about Valido's D. If he was a hot shot defensive SS in high school, he'll be fine.

He is 6FT 2inches tall and 170 pounds, very thin kid, so by big I hope you meant height. Was 10th rounder out of West Palm Beach, projected lower, we took early shot at him. Think we liked his breaking ball. He was in 17 games, only 3 starts. 1-4 with 3 saves and 3.97 ERA in 34 IP with 31 Hits allowed, 11 BBs and 38 Ks. .244 batting average against.
