TheBigHurt
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can't totally agree. I honestly think these guys are trying as hard as they can, but just aren't good enough. I DO say GO TO HELL KENNY WILLIAMS. He has put together this joke of a team, this joke of a farm system, has been a prick towards guys like Frank Thomas, and led us to 6 Octobers out of 7 at home. I could never hate this team, but I hate the losers running it that have put us in this spot. The entire scouting department needs to go. Well said, and I'll be taking that a step further if he trades Mark, who happens to be one of THE most valuable players on this team, PERIOD. Heads22
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:49 PM) He said to trust him and emphasized how we had fixed the bullpen this offseason. In reality, we have the fewest wins in baseball, the worst bullpen* in baseball, and the worst offense in baseball. While nobody could have seen our offense being THIS bad, everybody knew Crede had a career year last year, everybody knew Dye had a career year last year, everybody knew Pods and Erstad would get hurt, that Uribe can't hit, that A.J. has turned into a homer or nothing player, and that our bench and OF in general suck. There are very few excuses for KW right now. Our bench sucks due to injuries and having to start way more often. You can't count on Ozuna, Hall and Cintron all getting hurt and Mackowiak having to become a starter.

Yeah but you could count on Crede, Erstad, and Thome being prime candidates to be hurt, and Toby only played in 85 games last year, so he's not a prime candidate for Mr. Iron Man. Heads22
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 07:00 PM) Yeah but you could count on Crede, Erstad, and Thome being prime candidates to be hurt, and Toby only played in 85 games last year, so he's not a prime candidate for Mr. Iron Man. Tough choice. Russ Martin or Toby Hall. He had Fields as a backup plan for Crede, and Anderson/Terrero as a backup plan for Erstad.
fathom
I think a big mistake we made was not bringing in a back-up SS when we found out Cintron would need surgery on his arm.

GoodAsGould
I dont agree with all on people saying this team isnt trying anymore. You know Jermaine, Erstad, Iguchi, and Buehrle are all trying simply because of contract year, I dont think Konerko is a quitter hell he is the one that temporarily atleast held off the firesale. Joe Crede was trying plenty but when your back gives out what can you do about that. Same with Thome, he is trying he wants a WS ring before his career is over, but injuries happen. To say this team isnt trying is just utter garbage. As for KW I dont know how you can really blame him for all this mess. We win a WS, the following off-season he goes and upgrades the team and we actually do worse. Than this off-season he ditches Garcia for what now is looking like a great deal and same with B-Mac. How was he supposed to predict that 2 of our better relievers last year would have era's north of 5 and that all our hitters would lose the ability to bat north of .250? Every team has down years, the fact that we havent had a top10 draft pick in what 17 years which is either the longest streak or 2nd in baseball shows we have been spoiled, but whatever deal with it. greg775
Dont you have to support your team through good times and bad?? Yep. That is what a good fan is supposed to do. A good fan, however, also can moan and groan and sell their tickets 'cause this has been playing some really bad, historically bad baseball. But anybody who totally abandons this team is what they call a front runner. This is embarrassing and sick to watch, but a true fan won't totally abandon ship. They will b**** and groan and drink themselves to oblivion, but not wear paper bags over their heads like that moron asshole shown on WGN today. Hey bagman, did you have that bag over your head when the Sox won the World Series? Get a grip, man. Edited June 25, 2007 by greg775

PoopsThompson
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) Yeah. I don't think Danman speaks for even most of us. Nobody here likes this team. It's impossible to like. There's nothing worth following sans the Starters and even that's iffy because for the most part we know what the results will be. I understand why people wouldn't want to go to games (I don't have the money to spend on this team -- if I did, I'd still go, but I haven't gone to as many games as in the past and I probably won't go to too many for the rest of the year, either, but I will see a few later in the summer for sure). I think it's time to look forward for the future, but it's hard to get FURIOUS with the White Sox. I'm upset with Williams, the players and the scouts, but I don't hate anyone, and definitely not the Chicago White Sox. I like this team!!! The Beast
QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) 5-22 last 27 games. That is just downright embarassing. How the f*** Greg Walker has a job is a f***ing mystery. The offense has been like s*** the 2nd half of last year, then like s*** in ST, and for the first 3 months of this year have been like s***. How he has a job is un f***ing real to me. I'm sorry, but I do not agree that Greg Walker should be fired. As a coach, you can only do so much to help your players and lead them. They just need to execute. Today at the game, there was no execution whatsoever. Runner on, they should have Gonzalez bunting because he can't hit worth a damn. It's better than striking out all the time. But to blame Walker on all of our troubles as a ballclub, I find to be ridiculous. LosMediasBlancas
A couple of thoughts. Besides Soriano, I really was not at all impressed with what I saw from the Cubs this weekend. They're an average baseball team who didn't exactly tear the cover off the ball.... yet they were good enough to sweep us. THAT'S sad. I haven't been to the Cell since September and I'd give anything to sit in one of those seats and watch this crummy baseball team. I went 36 years watching the Sox lose before they finally won the WS, why would I jump ship after another bad year and a half?
Drew
I grew up watching the Sox and thinking that October was for other teams but not the White Sox. On one hand, '05 to now goes to show how many variables that need to click in unison to really do something great. We caught lightning in a bottle with all the off-season dealings KW made. Why I haven't been watching the games lately is because I'd rather spend the time not being obsessively pissed off about how the team is playing on how it seems that Jerry Reinsdorf is mothballing the Comissioner's Trophy and burrowing in for another couple of decades' worth of suckdom. All the rah-rah on the team site about meetings with Thome, Konerko, and Dye about how they think this team has it in them--show us the money already. Obviously this team is not getting it done, yet nobody seems to have any urgency to make changes.
retro1983hat
At no point during Sunday's game did I ever think we had any chance of scoring. I am a fan and will continue to support my team, but right now, my team is embarrassing.
LVSoxFan
I'm astounded at the people here who think people who are going to stop going to games as long as this team sucks are being disloyal. One of the reasons the Cubs have sucked for so long is that they fill that stadium no matter what; I have always prided myself on the idea that Sox fans vote with their feet. I've been to 15 games this year (including freezing my ass of in a -20 wind chill in April) and my record is 5-10. So no, I don't plan to go back anytime soon. And now that makes me not a Sox fan? Pfft. Wrong. The only kind of message that people like JR understand is financial. Maybe when he sees the empty seats and sees the season ticket orders start plummeting he'll realize we're not there to consume whatever crappy product he puts on the field. I make no apologies for this and I am a lifelong Sox fan. "Disloyal" would be switching teams. But showing our displeasure is a Sox tradition and I'm glad that guy with the bag on his head made it on TV--because this team is truly embarassing. I'm not asking for wins every time when I go, but I've had enough of dismal, pathetic losses where nobody even seems to try, or care. CAVEAT: if they re-sign Buehrle, I will at least try to go to games to see him pitch. That's the one thing that could salvage the season for me personallly. That's the same crap Cub fans have spewed for years and there isn't an ounce of truth to it. Part of the damn reason why the Cubs always have and always will suck is that their management and ownership know that the lemmings will pack Wrigley and watch on WGN come hell or high water, so they have no incentive to put a quality product on the field. Hence, the true blue fans are part of the problem. They're enablers. For me, there is no logical or rational reason to continue supporting this team. To do so is insanity.
