You mean 1B - Thome (35 games), DL - Thome (127 games), DH - Thomas. Right? The guy is not an everyday 1B anymore and Konerko is a better bet to produce consistently from 2006 on than Frank Thomas.

The only difference between Paul Konerko and Frank Thomas' 2007 numbers right now is Thomas' 10 extra walks and 4 extra HBP. That's it. Same amount of HR, same batting average, same SLG.

That and Konerko is far more likely to rebound and be one of the better run producing players in the game (just like he usually is....not the upper echelon, but just a notch below it, imo).

despite my postcount, believe i am depressed all day now

would we be better with 1B Thome, DH Big Frank.

OK - kill me . . . .

As much as people bash Thome against LHP, and he is bad, Frank has been terrible against RHP. Even with all the lefties in the AL Central, a player will still have 2/3 of his at bats against RHP.

Frank is just too much of a health risk and because this isn't fantasy baseball, we can't have a Thome/Frank platoon at DH (although it would be awesome. :) )

Lets get all hypothetical and s*** shall we? Lets just say the Sox were able to sign Thomas this past offeason, were currently platooning he and Thome at DH and they were putting up the exact same numbers against RHP/LHP as they are now. You'd have the deadliest platoon in baseball:

135 AB, 8 2B, 11 HR, 49 BB, 31 SO, .326/.500/.630/1.130

Un-f***ing-stoppable

I'd prefer neither myself. I like Thome but I think a trade involving him can help set the franchise up for another long term run of success.

Hope you are right chisoxfan. I like him, too. Hope the trade of Thome

will bring some impact players.
