BearSox
It just makes no sense. If you sign him now, and if Buehrle keeps this season up, we could get a TON for Buehrle in the offseason. Or if we wanted to keep him but we struggle again next season we could trade him next deadline and still get a TON for him. Just really idiotic and I am very confident that this was Buehrle's last start now. What's next? Buehrle and the agent concede to a 4 year 56 mil deal with no NTC and Kenny turns it down saying it was too late?

The next quote will be from Barry, saying that Mark instructed him to take the offer off the table and they will go to Free Agency. I think this was the last dance for this. BearSox
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Um, that is exactly what they just did. I know, but with no option this time. Just the original deal that Kenny offered him... I guess no one counters Kenny and gets away with it.

BearSox
Please fire Kennith Williams... he is back to arrogant and stupid ways. I thought maybe after 05 that hey, maybe he has finally learned from his mistakes as a GM and knows what he is doing... But now I know that was false and he is still the same GM he was 6-7 years ago. Exactly the word I would use to describe KW and the entire organization. Ever since they won the WS, they've acted like every move they made is the perfect one and that it's not even debatable. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) Trades are not allowed to be announced on the Monday/Tuesday of the ASB, are they? The Ginger Kid
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:01 PM) I wouldn't blame Williams, I am sure Reinsdorf gets the final call. I think this is a good point. I wonder where Jerry stands on this. But I agree with others, this is a very embarrassing development.
Heads22
QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) I just noticed the subtitle reads : Sox to Trade, Extend, or Let Buehrle Play Out Contract are you sure its going to be one of those options? Wanne
I swear...if KW and Jerry f*** this up...there is gonna be such a backlash. Why would they risk that? Why would they deal the most valuable piece of the orginization? I know everybody will jump my s*** for saying this...calling me a "non fan" and all...but if they trade Mark...or balk at all of this...it will be a LOOOOONG friggin time before I give a s*** what this team does. toasty
there's got to be more than what berry is letting on, or KW is stupid there must be something else that goes with that 5th year option they suggested. either that or kw is affraid that the 17 mil option would be a roadblock to a trade later down the road. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) Somebody please update me on what is going on?! What happened? reports are that mark's camp removed their full NTC demand, and offered a clause that would kick in a 5th year to the contract if he is traded.... sox theoretically woudldnt be on the hook for the 5th year, or the money, unless they had to pay some of that 5th year to trade him. reports from espn say that the sox rejected the offer, mark said something about the deal being off the table then on back on the table again, or something. kw said he didnt know anything about taking an offer off the table, the sox 'only added to' the offer. i swear this is like 2 weeks straight of april fools days...... elrockinMT
Just watched the 12 Midnight edition of ESPN BBTN. They are saying the Sox refused the alternate offer made by Buerhle's camp for a 17M dollar 5th year type buyout or contract addition if traded. They said it isn't anything different than Ostwalt has with the Astros. The Sox said no and the analysts said Sox managemnt must be crazy. Of course this is a business right. The fans don't matter any because it's just our money after all that keeps these teams in business. This is just plain wrong if true.
