Bulls Trade Rumor

Recommended Posts

A Phoenix radio station is reporting a potential deal that would send Kevin Garnett to Phoenix, Amare Stoudemire to Chicago, and a combination of #9 pick, Ben Gordon and/or Tyrus Thomas to Minneapolis.

If this happens, I am a VERY happy Bulls fan. Let's cross our fingers.

Stoudamire, while very powerful and manchild-ish, doesn't seem much of an improvement over Thomas in playing style. They both have very limited "games".

Oh yeah, great comparision. Except Amare has averaged 13.5/8.8, 20.6/9.0, 26.0/8.9, and 20.4/9.6 in his career. And is 6'10, 250 and 24 years old. And is a career 20/9 guy. And makes about 3/4 of his free throws and 53 percent of his shots from the field. And gets to the line 7 times a game. Other than that, same player.

While their styles are somewhat similar, I'll take the more proven and bigger option every time. You PRAY that Tyrus will be that good in a few years. I have absolutely no problem with a 20 points-10 boards-1 steal-1 block on 57.5% shooting guy who's still only 24.

HELLLOOOOO!!! Reading is Fundamental, kids. :stick

I said that their styles were similar and that it wouldn't be much a a "game" improvement.

1)Neither can make a shot past the arc

2)Both are very explosive inside

3)Both are close in height

4) Both are close in age

Stoudamire brings nothing in skill that Thomas doesn't bring. If Thomas added 20 pounds of muscle, you'd see more similarities.

Yes, Stoudamire is heavier, he's also more expensive contract-wise, has an injury past, and he'd cost Ben Gordon as well.

Wow....I assume being able to put the ball in the basket isn't a skill?

At that close of a range.. ie. a dunk... no, not really.

Stoudemire at least has a nice touch around the rim and gets to the FT line. Tyrus Thomas is a threat to break the backboard with every shot he takes. I've followed Tyrus since his 2nd week of games at LSU, and he's shown very little improvement in terms of offensive ability.

Fathom, thats a little under 2 years that you have followed him. The guy isnt even 20 years old yet, and he definitely has shown signs of improvement offensively. He put a few moves on the pistons in the playoffs that were not dunks, he consistently went hard to the basket, he hit some free throws. Thomas has plenty of talent and will make strides.

Im not saying he is in the same category as Stoudamire, because he isnt(yet), but you act as if he isnt anything, and that isnt the case.

Amare Stoudemire is an offensive force....Tyrus Thomas is an athletic player right now. I'm not saying Thomas won't become a good player, but he doesn't have the tools to really be a low post scorer in the NBA. With what the Bulls need right now and their window wide open in the Eastern conference, this deal would make a ton of sense. I think Skiles has been wanting to get rid of Gordon since the day he came in.

Stoudamire is a brute, but this team needs a more rounded power forward since Wallace is so limited as well.

Amare is basically exactly what this t eam needs. I'm sorry but you're way off knight.

That being said, this trade is not happening.

I think we also have to factor in the Steve Nash effect on Stoudamire. Im not discounting anything that Stoudamire does, but the guy stands a few feet from the basket, and the second he is open, Nash gets him the ball. The Bulls dont have anyone right now that can drive and dish like Nash can, and if they did who knows what this conversation would entail.

But I also agree with Rowand44, I dont see this one happening

Exactly.

Very limited and has a low skill set.

I'd rather have Garnett if I'm giving up the #9, Thomas AND Gordon.

I'd hate to lose Tyrus Thomas but I'd be all about getting Amare in Chicacgo. The only fear I have is the health concerns surrounding Amare. I know he was healthy last year but I also remember reading places that it is inevitable that he will need more surgeries surrounding his initial injury.

I can't believe somebody compared Amare Stoudemire and Tyrus Thomas in this thread. That's like comparing Joey Gathright and Carl Crawford because they are both African-American and fast.

They have similar skill sets. I know a lot of people compared Thomas game with Stoudamire's last year around draft time.

Its just in terms of production they aren't even close.
