greg775
It isn't Ozzie. It's all about the offense. Can't you see that? We had over 9 hits a game each game in Tampa and won them all. We hit we win. This game was all about our bats. Edited June 30, 2007 by greg775

dagotony06
It is Ozzie, he left the guy out there too long. He should have went to the bullpen for the 7th inning. Especially if you are looking to trade the guy. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) It isn't Ozzie. It's all about the offense. Can't you see that? Greg The Bull Luzinski
Is WCIU the JV braodcasting team? Speaking of which, calling our offense JV, would be an insult to many high school kids.

greg775
When a team has sucked as badly as the Sox all season, it's up to the veterans to get on a tear EVERY NIGHT til the team gets back to .500. Paulie had to stay hot. After a good series in Tampa, nothing tonight against a horses*** starter. Same with Thome. AJ did get a double. This team had a chance to open up the game with bags loaded one out early against a shaky Bannister. Couldn't do it ... game over. Nice job, millionaires. The Count obviously did not have his best stuff, and Ozzie could have limited the damage to 3 runs in 6 innings. Instead it is now out of reach and Count's trade value just went south as his ERA keeps climbing. I would say half of the Sox losses have came in this exact same fashion. You manage differently when the game is already over. Down by 2 is alot easier to overcome than being down by 5. But I understand what you are saying, the offense has been terrible. I wouldn't have brought Jose out for the 7th inning though. He went 6 and only gave up 3 runs, let the bullpen take over from there.
greg775
As bad as KC is, at least they've developed a bullpen. A bad starter (Greinke) is doing well. He sets up Soria who sets up a good closer in Dotel. They have a couple good young hitters who are hot in Teahen and Gordon and DeJesus.

Half the losses haven't been because Ozzie did this. Not even close. Today was a bad call, but I can't be upset with Ozzie for keeping his starter in after his starter told him he'd like to stay in. Ozzie's a player's manager and this'll happen sometimes with different results each time.

greg775
I have yet to watch a game this year where anybody on the Sox hits the damn ball. I didn't see any of the Tampa games. It's so frustrating. What a pathetic offense. My god. I am out for now. Have a good weekend. So frustrating after sweeping the Rays.

fathom
I've seen some impressive feats this year, but leaving a starting pitcher in the game 4 batters too long might top the list. I don't care if they win or lose right now, but Ozzie leaving Contreras in to die is just f***ing retarded with regards to his trade value. Ozzie's a player's manager and this'll happen sometimes with different results each time. Come on now. A player is always going to say he wants to stay in, that is part of being competitive. Ozzie just rarely pulls the plug on a pitcher who has struggled through the game without too much damage. I understand he doesn't have much faith in the bullpen, can't blame him there, but he does this a lot and more times than not, it does not work. Even if you don't re-sign Buehrle you still need to deal away the $20M albatross. He's going to give you nothing over the next 2 years, keeping him will not help make up for the loss of Buehrle. Luckily I think KW knows this.

Yep, that's just super. As Phil Rogers so wisely puts it, we're a year away from our back end of the rotation becoming the front end. Contreras will never put up an ERA under 4.75 again...his stuff is just too mediocre. Edited June 30, 2007 by fathom
