What a pathetic team. The next 48 hours aren't going to be fun for this organization. If anything, maybe blowing this game was a positive, as people won't believe this team is turning the corner. I wonder if Ozzie will blame Fields.

totally especially since hes been one of the best closers in the league this season. But yeah, good point

On what are you basing that statement? He has no velocity anymore and really doesn't have much to go with. Everytime I see him on the mound he's giving up a lot of hits.

Why? Because his WHIP and BAA have never been better in his career?

If he were consistently at 93-95 mph since 2005 it'd be different. But considering his past injury history and a continuous drop in velocity season to season (not to mention his second half struggles last year), I just can't assume it'll suddenly stop entering 2008.

Funny. This is the lowest his WHIP has ever been.

And the fact that he can't even be relied on to go 2 innings or in a tie game.

Ah, so ignore his actual performance and stats whatsoever, and consider his velocity drop and an injury that happened years ago, and THAT makes him ineffective.

I agree but he has a history of not being good in the second of back to back games

This season he's pitched in back to back games 10 times. Out of the 10 second games pitched, he's had 2 bad outings.

I'm scared though that they might think he can start at 2b or SS next year.

Oh, I wouldn't worry. Ozzie clearly likes play Gonzalez in the OF. he has this fixation with playing people out of their natural position. Maybe because the Toby Hall experiment turned out so well.

I do worry about the starting MI being Vizquel/Eckstein and Richar next season. Actually, I don't worry about about it. I anticipate it and almost want to see it happen just to witness how bad things can get.

Maybe you're just watching the wrong games because out of 35 games pitched this year he's allowed multiple hits in only 8 of them. And he's still throwing 94 MPH, to say he has no velocity is ridiculous. He just doesn't have that good 98-100 MPH heat anymore which made his straight fastball a whole lot more effective. Even with his diminished ability he's still incredibly effective.

My memory MIGHT be misinforming me here, but put THAT blown save with another he had recently (I MIGHT be wrong, though). In any case, yeah, he gives up hits and has no velocity. Realistically, what pitches does he really have to use effectively, at least compared to before, and his past performances? I'm amazed as hell he has this many saves so far.

I think trading Jenks would be a good move. Not based on the fiasco tonight. Just becuase his stuff is steadily declining, the Sox won't compete in the next 3 years, and he would fetch a bunch in trade. Keeping him around serves no purpose.

For a comparison. K-Rod has pitched in 35 games this year as well and has allowed multiple hits in 9 of them. Also K-Rod has allowed multiple walks in 3 games this year while Jenks has only done it once.

Aren't you the one who wanted him to come in for a tie game earlier this year and blamed Guillen for not doing it?

You are tough to follow. Yesterday you wanted the Sox to give Buehrle the no trade, today you say it doesn't matter, that you don't care and maybe they'll be a better team without him.

This just in: Ken Williams gives Ryan Bukvich extention with a NTC

Funny about this guy. He was absolutely horrible at first when brought up and then gets better. He was so much better in fact that I believe it was just yesterday when Ozzie said Bukvich was so ggod he was now the set up man rather than McDougal. He then goes out and blows it as well as Jenks letting it go for the third or 4th time this year. I don't want to criticize Jenks so much as wonder where his control and speed went. Without the high end fast ball to set up the rest of his pitches he is bound to get smacked around at inopurtune times.
