That has so much sarcasm dripping from it that it looks like Freddy used it to wipe off. If you want to turn the season around at all, not even to get back in contention, but at least to just finish with a winning record, you have to start somewhere. The Sox have started to make it happen of late, but this is the kind of blow that's absolutely demoralizing. The only difference between the 90 win that misses out of the playoffs and the 56 win team is a draft position. I want them to win because I am a fan. Rebuilding teams worry about momentum going into the next season. Championship teams, will look at this year as a blip in the radar, and will try to come out proving that the critics are wrong. You're not going to attract quality free agents unless you give them some sort of NTC. I really am puzzled as to how the Sox are expecting to add talent to the organization besides for trying to develop young guys.

Kalapse
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) It's much easier for a 90 win team to attract quality free agents than it is for a 56 win team to do so. You have to be willing to give out big contracts and no trade clauses in order to sign big time free agents as well. Who is available this offseason that won't want to come here because of one 106 loss season? It didn't stop Soriano, Lilly, Marquis or Derosa from signing with an epically s***ty team this past offseason. If you offer the money and show the players you're trying to build a winner, they will sign.
elrockinMT
You would like to think that if we can't possibly make up 12.5 games this season that at least the players want to make the best run of it they can. There will be changes, but let's hope the right ones are made and we don't destroy the nucleus of a winning club for 2008.

greg775
This game may be remembered as the most disappointing of the season. Nice road trip, signs of life. Some offense tonight. Then this pathetic showing. I know the season's already over, but this may be the game remembered as the worst considering the opponent. You must have a short memory. Last weekend and the entire showing against the NL should of sickened you. This is the AL, at least this is the majors. Wanne
I'm still at a loss as to what to even say. I left to run outside and jump in the pool with my kid...up 6-2...come back in what seemed like 15 minutes later...down 7-6. Ya know...I wasn't anticipating this team going on a 30-5 streak or anything...but I at least thought they could put together a nice run and save some face and at least play with some pride. That alone would have kept my interest at least. But I am officially done giving a s*** about this season. It's done. Time to play the youts and enter the Pedro Alvarez sweepstakes. RME JICO
That was a deflating loss, but those late inning comebacks always are. Again it is only one game, and the series win is more important. Now if the Sox do not win the series, it is a different story. You could almost say these same things about any loss. Either the starting pitcher allows too many runs, was left in too long, the bullpen blows the lead, the offense doesn't show up, or a combination of any of those. This was not the turning point in the season by any reach. That happened a long time ago.
