do the white sox have the 4th or 5th highest payroll in MLB? something has to give. clearly our minor league teams aren't teaching our prospects as well as they should. not to mention i don't know why razor shines is a 3B coach. but i could go on and on with what's wrong with this ball club. it is comical though, you have to admit that.

If this set of games does not spark some moves, I have no idea what will.

Unfortunately, Kenny Williams and Jerry Reinsdorf live in their own little worlds where the white sox actually are a hair away from winning the division. greg walker has no right to be chicago's hitting coach but he never got the boot. that should tell you all you need to know about the big headed KW.

i'm just amazed that so many fools keep packing the park with 30,000+ every night. i constantly turn down tickets because i don't want to pay $50+ to watch a sox game and that's counting free tickets. you know how expensive everything is at the cell. jerry reinsdorf is laughing all the way to the bank. the sox may be losers when it comes to the standings but they're raking in the dough this season.

Good to see Cintron starting both games of the doube header. He's one of Ozzie's boys. Ozzie finally got a team filled with his style of player, and it will be lucky to win 75 games, despite pretty good starting pitching.

Thank you, Ozzie.

Fact.

Floyd did not have an impressive start tonight. There is no way around that. However, I beleive this is an unfair statement.

Couldn't the same thing been said about the Twins after the Garza start? All he really had was a fastball that got rocked? Is that the best they could do?

I don't like Floyd, didn't like the Garcia trade but wanted to give it a chance. And I agree with you about giving Floyd a chance. But your comparison of Garza and Floyd is way off the mark.

Garza was a home-grown No. 1 pick. He dominated the minor leagues in 2006 at every level, going from high-a to an eventual callup to the big club. Was absolutely dominant at every level of the minors, striking out 154 in 135 IP.

Garza is roughly the same age as Floyd (MG is 23) but newer to pro ball, since he played at Fresno State rather than going to the pros right out of HS. Garza was was very impressive in spring training in 2006 and 2007. Floyd had a 9.00 ERA in 19 IP this spring in his only ST with the White Sox.

Yes, Garza had a rough first start in the bigs and a few other clunkers along the way last year. If you take away his debut, his ERA last year drops by a full run. Floyd's ERA in the majors is now over 7.00, and that's over 110-plus innings.

So while you probably shouldn't write off Floyd because of one bad start (you should write him off for going on three years of not being able to get out major-league hitters), a comparison between Garza and Floyd is less than apt.

Anyone know what the record is for most runs scored in a single day is?

I guarantee that record belongs to the 2007 Chicago White Sox.

1 - Will Liriano fully recover from his surgery and be the same pitcher he was last season?

2 - Will Santana be in Minny next season?

2 - Floyd's number in AAA were better than Garza's this season IIRC. That tells me something there.

1. Those are key quesitons, but concerning Tony's question, Liriano's presence (and potential for complete domination) is why Garza's past failures aren't as important to his ballclub as Floyds are to ours.

2. I honestly expect Minnesota to sign an extension. We're talking about a generational talent, here. A legitimate ace. They should find the money, and even if they don't, imagine the haul they'll receive in a trade.

3. They were, but not by much. Garza, however, has succeeded at every level.

i take back my earlier statement.

The twins aren't laughing at the sox in the clubhouse.

They're doing it in the dugout.

and here's the really good news: The Twins are the third best team in the division.

We have even more games left against the best two -- Cleveland and Detroit.

Yea, and Detroit is unleashing their #1 pick from last year, Andrew Miller who is downright nasty. With Miller, Verlander and Bonderman leading that team I just don't see how we will compete in the near future.

minnesota won't ever win a ring, atleast not any time soon. the division is not only too stacked nowadays, but they can't keep their talent. the real reason though is the twins are always regular season champs only to wind up getting swept in the 1st round of the playoffs. they just can't win in October for whatever reason.

Agree 100%. I'm tired of the Twin ass-kissing by everyone in the Sox organization for the last 5 yrs. Everyone else beats them and has no problem wiping them out of the playoffs but listen to our guys and you'd think the Twins have won the last 5 World Series

You not only are insulting me, but roughly the 2.5 million that will fill the Cell this year.

i didn't mean it as an insult at all. it's just negative reinforcement to continue filling up the cell to watch the Charlotte Knights play.
