Al Lopez's Ghost
I'm glad it wasn't life or career threatening, but can you imagine the media and out-of-town reaction if it had been AJ whose bat hit Redmond? It would be on ESPN news every half hour, they'd bring up pro wrestling, and the next time AJ went to Minny he'd need an armed escort. Steve9347
No, even if it had been AJ, people would have known it was an accident.
Al Lopez's Ghost
I dunno - AJ gets booed in towns where he hasn't done anything.
whitesoxfan101
Outside of the comebacker to the face Bryce Florie took for the Red Sox and the 2 injuries that lefty Saunders suffered for Tampa Bay, that was about the ugliest thing I've ever seen in a baseball game. I'm glad Redmond wasn't seriously hurt, he's lucky that wasn't the case.

whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) Ruben Mateo, Jason Kendall, Robin Ventura even Mike Mussina. Just to name a few. I forgot the Mussina one, but this one bothered me more than those other ones. With leg/knee injuries (Jermaine Dye in the playoffs for Oakland is another one), they are ugly but not life threatening. At the moment this happened I thought this could do serious and permanent damage to Redmond, so it bothered me more.
3E8
DJ was talking about some catcher who took a broken bat shard into his neck. That has to be the most extreme.
WSoxMatt
I have the winner guys... When Dave Dravecky's arm snapped after throwing a pitch in Montreal Other famous arm snaps: Tom Browning, John Smiley, John Saunders

That has to be the most extreme. That was Steve Yeager, who caught for the Dodgers. He also invented the neck guard -- after he almost died. witesoxfan
If we are talking about line drives back to the pitcher, Billy Wagner has to be on the list.
BearSox
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 01:37 AM) If we are talking about line drives back to the pitcher, Billy Wagner has to be on the list. Matt Clement had a pretty bad one...
