TheBigHurt
QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I understand your message, and I am smiling, but I disagree he is a cornerstone. He is OK, but no ace. Just my opinion. He's been the closest thing to an ace for us in recent years, along with both Garland and Contreras (AT CERTAIN POINTS). But I'm not just talking about him being a conrnerstone as a player, but as a person and a leader, dude. We all want to keep Buerhle not only because of the great player he is, but the great leader and person he is as well.

TheBigHurt
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Apparently Kemp really is injured. http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ml-dodgers Looks like we dodged a bullet. WOW, some of the fans on that board are idiots. Someone called Buerhle "an injury waiting to happen," and apparently no one there is aware that Buerhle has pitched in any year besides 2006 since those are the only stats they seem to look at. Many fans there are saying them trading Kemp for Buerhle would be idiotic. Edited July 8, 2007 by TheBigHurt
Cerbaho-WG
As for more trade speculation, McCullouch only went 1 IP for WS today (0 H 0 R 0 BB 2 SO). Just sayin'.
BearSox
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) What I'd give for either Kemp or Ethier. I personally would love to get Loney, but Kemp or Ethier would be awesome as well . But with Buehrle off the table that only leaves Javy and Garland I love Javy and I doubt he will get traded as Kenny Williams loves Javy as well. But that leaves Garland and I don't want Garland gone either. With that being said, if we could get Kemp and some other good stuff (probably better then what we could get for Buehrle), I'd do the deal. Plus, Garland being from LA and making his residence there (I think), the Dodgers could probably sign him to an extension. Plus, I can still root for him if he is on a team like the Dodgers. Chisoxfn
Kemp is a stud in the making. He would be a coup to acquire, but I just don't see the Sox able to get him unless Dye and Contreras would do it for the Dodgers (and for that to happen both would have to heat up). QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) As for more trade speculation, McCullouch only went 1 IP for WS today (0 H 0 R 0 BB 2 SO). Just sayin'. I still say the Sox buy and move guys like McCulloch/Anderson/Broadway for guys that they think will help them next year and in the future. And than they sell other guys. The Ginger Kid
QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) Garland would have more value going to a team in a pennant race. If he is not traded during this season, he'll be here next year, and I do not expect him to be shipped off. I would say it is 75% that Count is gawn! If he's healthy, then a shrewd GM will go get him, because he's a strong second half pitcher and I wouldn't expect that to change this year. Yeah, he's a year older, but that doesn't explain what's happening with him. Mechanics are fowled and his track record suggests that he'll turn it around. I just hope we don't dump him for nothing. BearSox
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) Kemp is a stud in the making. He would be a coup to acquire, but I just don't see the Sox able to get him unless Dye and Contreras would do it for the Dodgers (and for that to happen both would have to heat up). That would be the best thing ever if Dye gets healthy and goes on a tear and Count throws a couple of Gems, and then the Dodgers trade Kemp (if healthy) for them (plus cash). Chisoxfn
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) That would be the best thing ever if Dye gets healthy and goes on a tear and Count throws a couple of Gems, and then the Dodgers trade Kemp (if healthy) for them (plus cash). As long as the players aren't 1,000 years old, I'd have no problem with it. But Broadway got rocked today again. I think if the Sox buy they would be buying from other sellers. When they sell it will likely be to major contenders. I also think that Kenny will be buying cheaper players that may have fallen out of love that could potentially fill needs. Again, I get player happy and hone in on certain guys so Cedeno and Murton are two of those type of players I'd be talking about (however the Cubs would obviously want stuff to help there major league club out). There could be those type of guys on teams out of contention though and the Sox could get them using there own prospects that they may not like quite as much (or project quite as much). Gregory Pratt
Now that I think about it, I really hope this doesn't bite us. Buehrle starts to lose velocity and ow! No location can save him. But I'd have definitley given him this contract, so it's all good.

SoxFan562004
Great news to hear. Maybe MB ends up being terrible and not living up to even this discounted contract, but IMO this is a move the Sox had to make. They are likely getting a HUGE discount from MB, in this day and age in baseball you can't pass up an opportunity like this. Congrats MB and the Sox org, and as a fan, I want to than all of you. Wanne
This signing probably also saved me the embarrassment and cost of getting thrown out of Sun Devil Stadium this fall at an ASU football game after I tracked Kenny's ass down and went into an explative-laced tirade over letting Buehrle go. Wanne
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) Just got home from the game. WOW. That was the most fun I can remember at the ballpark. The announcement after the game was the happiest I have been in a long, long time. Hey Tony...did the crowd go nuts when it was announced? Would have loved to have seen experienced that.
