And Cordale Scott (4* WR from Ohio) is also thought to be leaning towards Illinois and could commit by next week. That'd be a huge steal getting him away from Ohio State.

He's been an Illini lean for months, the only reason people will be shocked by this is all the Ohio State people ignorantly assumed Scott was theirs since he goes to Glenville.

Yessssssssssssssss, f***ing sick news to wake up to. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Obviously with Benn and Cumberland, Chris James coming back from injury, Jenkins and Scott coming in next year, and Fayson transferring. The weapons on the outside for this team are going to be un f***ing believable.

You aren't going to find too many surprised hardcore bucks fans about scott. Most people I know saw him as a safety for osu and really didn't see him playing for several seasons. Especially after getting the best wr in the state in posey. Scott should be behind several talented wr's at illinois as well.

I thought scott was downgraded to a 3 star after his season?

It appears zook wants to maybe air it out soon, who is he going to throw in to get the ball to these guys? It would be a waste to continue to run the ball every down. Maybe a purdue type spread?

Over the next few years I think we'll become a passing team. We've got some decent depth at RB, but the real talent is going to be in the WR's. Plus Charest, Juices replacement, is a good pocket passer.

I dunno about Scott's rating. Scout still has him as a 4*

Ohio State fans are great fans, but their spin on recruiting is always funny. If you ask them, they've never lost a recruit, it's always they won't play or academics or they didn't offer, nobody actually beats them for a player. And yes, Scott is still a 4 star and will remain one, he didn't "lose a star this season". It's a great get.

I assume you are talking about me?

And yes, after his season he dropped to three and then jumped back up to four. And every fan has relative thoughts about their recruits. Every single one that goes to illinois is omg the best signee ever!!!! That's how everyones brain works. I've known he was an illinois lean for awhile, he was even before any of his visits. If you ask the opinion of many of the posters I enact with on our osu boards we thought highly of him, but also felt he was maybe the 3rd or 4th best receiver we were offering. Many guys thought he would be a safety for us. I'm sorry if my comments hurt you, I was trying to give another perspective on the recruit from our pov.

He's a great sign for ill, and really the best thing for zook is that he was able to finally get a guy out of glenville to not choose osu. As for shocking us etc? Not really the case. We have 3 ships left I believe and are really focusing on pryor and jenkins for our two main targets. Don't take my comments from my opinion and the opinion of other bucks fans to downplay your recruits whatsoever. We will lose many others plays come feb to other schools, and thus is the joy and pain of recruiting high school kids. Peace and love to the illini, and hatred of meatchicken.

And fyi, zook Is always going to recruit well in ohio, he's a miami man, that's also why he's brilliant.

agree. zook's from loudonville and went to miami so he's really familiar with the area. his first few recruiting classes have had a distinctive ohio flavor. brian gamble is one guy who's really shown something already as a true frosh. there's plenty of others and supposedly they also have a verbal from top 09 defensive end melvin fellows.

Three hotbeds of talent that he (or his staff) has ties to: Ohio, Florida and Maryland. That's awesome. If he can only get into Texas, they'll be good for awhile.

Actually no, I wasn't talking about you, all you said was he'll play earlier at Illinois, which is accurate. And I also have no problem with Ohio State at all, Tressel does it the right way (SEE: Him suspending a starter today for the title game). I am just refering to all the people on Buckeye Planet and all that nonsense. Scott this year had a statistically identical year on offense to last year, which is all I'm aware of. And hell, guys like Washington and Robiskie and Aaron Gant were "backup plan", lower rated recruits IIRC, so even when Ohio State has to go to backup plans, it works out.

As for Illini recruiting, as long as the current staff is in place, Ohio, Florida, and Maryland/DC will be hotbeds. Hell of a trio of places to have ties.

Yes, they typically bring in lower ranked players that turn out well, its really a testament to the player dev at OSU. Many of the people I have seen post at bucknuts saw him as a given to commit, but not neccesarily the impact player that he will be for Illinois, we envisioned him as a db as we have 4 wr's that are top 100 in the country so we thought our depth was good already, but hes a great get for anyone. Another tall ass WR for ILL. Hes going to be deadly to any team that has a small secondary thats for sure.

Just a thought here. Last year, Illinois was coming off a 2-10 season, and a lot of people said their #20 recruiting class in the nation had to be at least somewhat a byproduct of cheating. This year, Notre Dame goes 3-9, has the consensus #1 recruiting class in the nation, and nobody says a word. I know it's different situations, but still a sign of typical media hypocrisy.

Oh, and one of the Kentucky beat writers says Legion to Illinois is official. We'll see if/when this is confirmed by the school, but I'm not surprised, he'll have a chance to play 40 minutes a game in Champaign.

Legion is probably headed to Illinois...however, it's Jerry Tipton, he's wrong more often than not, and he's a terrible writer in general. Just a heads up, ha.

Well none of the ND recruits probably saw this type of season coming, but when Illinois kept losing over the years, it looked fishy. I like Zook though and believe he's doing it the right way.

Most people thought ND wouldn't make a bowl, but your right nobody thought it would be that bad. I don't think either school is cheating at all, the only schools that really cheat in football recruiting are the SEC ones, which is a major reason why they are so good. Anyways, both schools aren't doing anything illegal here but it just is strange to me how people will accuse with no facts.

Legion to Illinois!!!

http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/7593740

Great get, although is won't help this year, but next year, Illinois should be a NCAA team once again, especially in a bad Big ten. IMO, this year should be all about developing Tisdale and Davis. There is no way Illinois is a tourney team and I am sure Bruce knows it. They can play very well, but they just don't have the offense to make it. Tisdale and Davis should get big minutes to help for next year.

Legit pick up...good luck with his mom, seriously...I hope she doesn't do anything that completely ruins his career for him, although she said she's staying in Lexington to continue to work on her awesome ministry of prophecy.

Weber needs a guy like this, definitely a player he can work with.
