I don't know what's going on and never claim to. However, it seems the Illinois fan base continues to get overly excited about every little piece of news like this and all it does is set them up for disappointment. I've done it, i'm sure you've done it too. Yes, it's nice to be in the conversation, but conversations mean dick. Groce needs to land some of these guys. BTW, it tells you the state of the programs when the Stevenson student section started an Izzo chant during the game.

My post was more towards Brian. Believe me I'm far from excited. Too much s*** in recruiting lately to go crazy. Just thought it was a positive if they are being considered because I thought they were completely out.

And lets face it, your average hs kid knows one of the best coaches in the game in Izzo, they don't know a second year Groce. Doesn't surprise me at all.

I was just messing with Justin because Stevenson is my schools rival.

I'd like to LoL at Illinois for thinking they have a shot but who knows. His recruiting is hush hush. Lots of offers but never heard about preferences.

Ya nobody knows what's going on there. One of my roommates is good friends with a few of our old teachers(yes it's weird) and as you said it's hush hush.

I wanted to be the cool guy with sources but I got nothing ha.

Demetrius Jackson, the big basketball recruit that Illinois just missed out on, apparently is not with Notre Dame at their game tonight. Not even in the building. Speculation is he's leaving ND. Supposed to find out what happened from Brey after the game.

Academics, but he was considered a strong student in HS. Could be legit, could also be a cover. Who knows, I would love him as a transfer since you get him for 3 years still and he has a ton of time to develop but I'm not banking on that happening.

Jackson has been a huge disappointment so far this year for ND. To say he's been passive is a gigantic understatement. If Illinois had the chance to either get Brunson or Jackson, the clear choice should be Brunson.

Agreed, but I don't think we'll have that choice. If Jackson wants to transfer, I'd say our odds are much higher with him.

Yeah you take him with open arms. Jackson's handlers have said he's still committed to Notre Dame though.

It's funny how powerful internet rumors have become. Supposedly Brey was asked about speculation that he was transferring to Illinois. Those rumors started as a result of him not playing...so hours before the press conference.

Ermon Lane is GOOD.

There was a pretty good stretch leading up to NSD that it was possible all three of Ermon Lane, Malachi Dupre and Travis Rudolph were going to come to FSU. Dupre going to LSU sucked, but getting Harrison to flip from VaTech was nice. All these guys still have Rashad Greene to lean on too. FSU's offense should be filthy again next year.

Irrational fan base opinion: he loved illinois from the start, he got dissed, and he had every opportunity to tell Groce & Co. no thanks, no longer interested. But he didn't and his dad's comments make it seem like all is forgiven. The dude's a coach, he knows how this stuff works. It was s***ty of Groce not to give him a "sorry but this other kid committed" call, but that's the past.

The biggest thing I took from that article wasn't about Groce, but that Brunson's dad seems like a tool.

He has confronted reporters after games this year. He has stepped over the line a few times. But he knows the system so I'm not shocked he's like this.

Pretty much. I'm pretty sure the whole reason Groce never called is because of the chance of how everything has played out like it did.

I just hate it when parents say stuff along the lines of "where WE are going to school." You're not going anywhere, buddy. Your kid is. Don't forget it.

When that happens, it does give the impression the parent(s) are looking for a little something for themselves.

Agreed. Jalen should just commit to Ann Arbor and avoid a circus. :D
