Palehosefan
Yeah, I watched both games. Samuels vs. Ed Davis, and then Tyreke Evans vs. 09 Dominic Cheek. Great games and invidivual battles.

whitesoxfan101
Per Bob Sakamoto's blog at chicago sports, Jereme Richmond has been kicked off the Waukegan team. It is widely recognized he'll be at Evanston next year, but what a douche. It takes a hell of an effort of being a bad person to be kicked off a team. Rex Hudler
In the FWIW category, both Devin Ebanks and Terell Holloway had clauses in their LOI that allowed them out if the Hoosiers either changed coaches or were banned from post-season play. I'm starting to think Richmond is going to be more of a hindrance for Illinois than anything. I guess I shouldn't say much b/c I don't know the kid or his situation, but it doesn't seem good regarding all I've read about his attitude this year. Let's hope he goes to a new school next year and nothing more comes of this.

He has some serious growing up to do though. Richmond didn't have any issues in AAU ball or in HS last year FWIW.
zenryan
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 01:31 AM) It isn't but there always seems to be a UNC or Duke recruit who really doesn't deserve to bet there. kinda like the NBC All-American Football Game with ND. lol Randy Shannon has continued where he left off. 5 star RB Bryce Brown commited to Miami late last week. Rex Hudler
It sounds to me it is simply a case of Richmond believing all of his press clippings. Too many times now kids get tons of attention when they are too young (which is why I think getting a commitment from a sophomore is ridiculous, but that is another argument). They can't handle it. If their parents can't handle it and keep the kid grounded it causes problems. In that situation, kids often don't know how to react to discipline or how to sacrifice one's own personal accolades for the team. Too many parents are telling the kid how good he is or fighting with/blaming the coach when the kid is not being catered to. Hopefully, this is the case with Richmond and the kid and his parents at some point soon get the proverbial kick in the ass they need. A reality check seems to be what is needed here. It sounds as if we are just talking about a spoiled kid who needs to learn a little bit about life. If that happens, he'll likely be okay. If not, it will have to happen when he gets to college and he will likely be as much of a hindrance to the team regardless of what kind of stats he piles up. Winners learn that selflessness and hard work is what pays off in the long run.
Rex Hudler
Looks like we are headed for a collision course matchup pitting Tyler Zeller's Washington Hatchets against Kyle Kuric's Evansville Memorial Tigers. The two teams, two of the top teams in Indiana, could meet in the Regional Final which would be two weekends from now. Each will have to win a few games to get to that point, including a possible rematch for Washington with Edgewood in the first round of the Regional. The Regional is being held at Washington. Kuric's Tigers are 18-1 having only lost to 4A Evansville Reitz, a loss later avenged a week later. Kuric is averaging 22.1 points per game. Zeller's Hatchets are 17-2 dropping decisions to 4A Evansville Central and 3A Edgewood. Zeller averages 32.3 points per game and 9.9 rebounds. Memorial is ranked #6 in a poll that includes all divisions and Washington is #11. 15 of the top 20 teams in that poll are 4A, the state's largest class. Brian
Rex, How you digging 4 class bball? It's our first year in Illinois with it. Some good match ups and the 1A/2A girls tourney had some good games so can't complain yet.

Most people I know would rather go back to the single class, all-in tournament that made Indiana unique for years. ss2k, any others have thoughts?? I hate change. I fear it will water things down. That is one angle. The other is that this is high school and these are kids. It is a unique experience to get down state and if more kids experience playing on a big floor, isn't that a good thing? It's been over 10 years and I still hate they moved it from Champaign to Peoria.

I never missed a final four weekend during one class. I went about 25 straight years, last year was the first time I ent since the class system and that was due to my team East Chicago being there. The sectionals & regionals have been the biggest drop of though. Indiana was special during Hossier Hysteria now not so much. GO BACK TO 1 CLASS!!!!!! ChiSox_Sonix
Anyone hear anything new about Tyreke Evans or John Riek? I know Evans is considering UConn, L'Ville, 'Nova, Memphis and the Hall but i havent heard where he is leaning. I'd guess Memphis since Rose will be leaving and Uconn has Kemba Walker coming in. And last i heard about Riek was Uconn was the only school recruiting him becuase the belief is he is gonna skip school and do some AAU type program and go to the NBA the following year. I dont understand it, its some loophole. I do know he'd be great in Storrs replacing Thabeet who's probably gone after this year.

I heard Evans was a early slight Louisville lean (after UNC did not offer which was his childhood favorite and very early favorite til they passed on him, due to grade issues and he seems to be 1 and done), but now he looks to be a strong Memphis lean. Riek will be able to enter the NBA draft, since he technically is a grad from last year and I hear he looks to be going that route. He is a project at best in my opinion, I'm not impressed with Riek at all. UCONN & Duke did pursue him hard, but it looks like NBA draft for him. I dont follow the recruiting process too closely during the current seasons I wouldn't count out 'nova either at this point. He really wants to be a featured scorer in his freshman season to maximize his NBA stock after one year. 'Nova fits, but with Rose departing it seems like Memphis has the inside track for him at the moment. Scotty Hopson who backed out of his Miss. State commit intrigues me the most right now. There is some concern with his work ethic etc, but he is ultra skilled as well and out there to be swooped up.

Ya UCONN's backcourt with Price, Dyson, Wiggins, Austrie and Beverly all returning plus the additions of Walker and Haralson wouldnt seem to be a great fit and he would probably lack the exposure at Seton Hall. 'Nova has Scotty Reynolds coming back so he wouldn tbe the premier scorer there. L'Ville may be his best bet to be the go to guy depending on whether CDR comes back next year or not i guess. And i was surprised about your assessment on Riek. From what little i've heard, is he would be at worse like a Thabeet of last year if he went to college for a year. And although unpolished, he was still a defensive presence last year.

I am really down on Reik but he is a beast of a man who is almost totally unpolished, so who knows, but I see a lot af a Brian Zubeck with far less skills and just more body. Not very impressive to me at all, but some people have high hopes for him so good luck to him. I have only saw him a couple of times on TV and the like so maybe I am missing something, but I would pass on him all together.
