But I thought Miami was out of scholarships and I must have bad sources?

Who said that?

I said they didnt have open schollys which they dont. Of course one will open up eventually with the terrible academics of at least 6 recruits.

Even beyond that though, every school in America can make a scholarship open when necessary, even if one technically isn't open. It's all part of the game.

Heads

From what I read he sounded like a SF/PF. But Scout listed him as a PF/C so I was just going with their projections as Ive never seen him play.

I do like how Wisconsin picked up players exclusively from rival states: 2 from Illinois, 1 from Iowa and 1 from Ohio.

Traevon Jackson is Jim Jackson's son.

Either way, yet another quality recruit that leaves state of Iowa.

Every Hawkeye site had him going to Iowa. I know for a fact we led for him a week ago, I don't know what changed.

He's pretty much a point forward. Kid is rail thin.

Saw Jabari Parker and Mike Shaw play yesterday in a game of Simeon vs. De La Salle. Shaw didn't shoot well, but is very athletic, great passer and a big dude. Parker I was amazed has a lot of baby fat on him still, kid is just huge though. Like he is gonna turn that to muscle and be a monster. Also, Simeon is just ridiculous. De La Salle has three front-court starters (Shaw, Foster, Henley) all at 6'7" or bigger and all are high D-1 players, and Simeon road them out of the gym.

Oh I just meant another kid that left Iowa instead of going to Iowa or ISU. I didn't actually expect him. Iowa is in deep s*** right now and it won't change until Fran proves that he can win and make strides. The new training facility should help as well.

Where'd you see them play?

Jaylon Tate should also be a high-magor kid. I've heard Alvin Ellis will be good too. Both are gonna be sophs (and both Gs). De La Salle is my team and I'm excited as heck to watch them play, particularly with Dre Henley transferring back.

I won't take too much stock into games in the summer. Heck, D pretty much blew out simeon at uic last season yet simeon still regrouped and won state.

If they change the rule, Parker will be NBA ready when he is done in high school.

At Collins Academy in the west side of Chicago. It was actually part of my internship right now. My company helps Nike put on experiential marketing events, so I was giving uniforms to all the guys, but yeah Tate/Ellis were there. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that they were that good otherwise I would have watched them more. Even with it being the summer, Simeon just looks so damn athletic and to be that dominant against another really good (and I think DLS has a great chance to get down state) is impressive. I think what's so amazing about Simeon is there depth, they have about seven D-1 prospects.

Kudos to the Sun Times for running the story about Anthony Davis being on the take. If there were more of these stories maybe cheating wouldn't be so rampant in college sports. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/preps/25715...cruit06.article

When reached Thursday, Davis Sr. declined to respond further, saying: ''Thanks for ruining my son. Thank you very much.''

lol, yeah. cuz the kid is the problem in this scenario.

Um no, that's atrocious journalism. You can't just casually throw that allegation into like the 7th paragraph of an article with absolutely ZERO proof or credible sources. These rumors, whispers, unnamed sources are dumb. Back it up with proof and facts. Name your sources and these alleged 3 schools that gave you this rock-solid information.

I think it's just shoddy journalism, and scrambling to defend himself when called out. Leave the rumors to the bloggers unless you're going to go all the way as a journalist and uncover the facts. Don't just throw that out there to stir something up and get your own name out there.

If it's true, I WANT to know about it. But I wanna know all the facts too. And I want it for ALL the recruits. Kinda weird that it's this recruit and now that this is coming up. The rumors have been RAMPANT for tons of recruits throughout the year, so many for kentucky recruits alone, and in multiple sports. They should ALL be investigated, but thoroughly and properly.

Also, it would be sweet if this whole debacle sways him towards staying home and coming to DePaul. From what I gather, Purnell is a pretty clean coach.

This is turning Davis' meteoric rise from an amazing story, anonymity in a small city school in Chicago, a hoops mecca, into a top 5 player in the nation, into something ridiculous.

It's only atrocious if it's false. I do agree though that the true story was that, so the most important part of the story should not be buried in the seventh paragraphs. As well, the sources from the schools like gave him the information on the condition of anonymity. And it will be interesting if he is taken to court over this because he has Shield Law protection in Illinois to not have to give up his sources.

Iowa State continues raiding the Big 10 for transfers, adding Chris Allen from Michigan State.

Hell of a scout team this year.

Chris Babb (Penn State)

Royce White (Minnesota)

Chris Allen (Michigan State)

Anthony Booker (Southern Illinois)

Jake Anderson (Northern Illinois)

are all transferring in.
