whitesoxfan101
I'm not going to link any articles since no matter what ones I link, they will have a biased slant, so just watch the video for yourself: You can say whatever you want about the bias and motivation of this video, but the facts in it are damning to the point where I think this will be the thing that ends Rudy's run for the Oval Office in terms of a chance to win. Gregory Pratt
I hope the Republicans rip him to shreds on this in the primaries so he never makes it anywhere in the general election as Democrats don't have the guts to use these truths to club the man into whatever hole he crawled out of. See, Republicans are the ones that go after your strength and rip it to shreds. Just ask John Kerry. Truth is, Giuliani is a bad man, and he's as sleazy as can be. If this is what it takes to knock him out of the race, so be it. Edited July 13, 2007 by Gregory Pratt
Sonik22
I always felt Giuliani was an overrated politician and this video makes me sick. IMO he's trying to ride 9/11 to election harder than Bush rode it to re-election.
NorthSideSox72
There is an article about this posted a few days ago in the GOP candidate thread as well, if anyone wants to read it.
jasonxctf
wow. I used to put Giuliani in the acceptable, but not preferred candidate group, not any more.
kapkomet
I never really liked Guiliani for several reasons, but more of them were personal. The one thing that he can do well is govern. We haven't had a person who could govern since I would argue 1988.
mr_genius
Well, that will certainly destroy him I just found this on youtube, makes you really think about what the government and politicians are REALLY up to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxSctlgnNK0

Gregory Pratt
Democrats wouldn't rip him on this. That's why the Republicans are doing it. Democrats would listen to Bob Shrum tell them that it might "backfire" because the public doesn't want "negativity."
KipWellsFan
Not that the swiftboats on John Kerry were particularly damning and it seemed to serve its purpose, but this video didn't seem all that bad for Rudy. I know he wasn't a perfect mayor but with all the events surrounding 9/11, those three screwups probably aren't representative of Rudy's true role in the security preparations and aftermath. NorthSideSox72
Between this, his pro-choice stand, his repeated infidelities, his questionable business dealings... he just isn't what the GOP wants. He won't get the nod.
Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 08:05 PM) Not that the swiftboats on John Kerry were particularly damning They effectively sunk his campaign. this video didn't seem all that bad for Rudy. Rudy's running as "America's Mayor," the brave man who did all this great work on 9/11. It's a huge myth, it's crap, and he deserves to be exposed for milking the tragedy. He won't get the nod. Well, if the GOP wants a GWBushII type, they will get totally decimated in the election. I think the american public has had enough of these new "conservatives". The only good thing that has come out of this admin are tax cuts and supreme court nominations. edit: ok, i'll also give them credit on busting up terror cells and stopping attacks in the US. The GOP knows they need to have someone more moderate. Personally, i hope Giuliani wins the whole thing. Shady business dealings and infidelities? uhhhh, he seems like a saint compared to the dems "hillary and bill clinton in 2008" ticket. Thats the main thing to the GOP, not letting Hilary be president. Republicans don't want to see taxes go up to 40% on working families again. I am certainly no Hillary defender - I don't like her either. I was coming at it more from a GOP-only perspective. I don't think they want Rudy, or McCain. I think its Romney or Thompson. They definitely don't like McCain. A lot of republicans like Giuliani, some of the far right might not totally accept him, but they realize they can't get their candidate every time. All Giuliani needs to do is convince the Republican base that he will support pro-life judges and legislation. Giuliani is still the "GOP establishment's" choice, and that is a big deal in the primary. Edited July 18, 2007 by mr_genius

Yeah, him beating out Romney in 2Q fundraising says a lot about who the party insiders are favoring right now. Romney got a big boost of fundraising in Utah in the first quarter, but now that's drying up a bit, and the more standard money from that party is starting to show itself. Are you friendly with those powers or something? Anyway, I just don't see that being the case. I think Giuliani may have been their initial pick, but as time goes on and they learn more about him, I think his stock is falling quickly among the GOP core. That's the indications I am seeing, but then, who knows what is going on behind closed doors.
