What about Carlos Vasquez??

This morning on WSW, beat reporter Joe Cowley raised a good point......that is with all of the bullpen ills that we have been having this year, why haven't the Sox brought this guy up? Would it not make sense to promote, you know, the one releif pitcher at AAA who is actually getting guys out? I know that sometimes teams are hesitant to promote a young guy who is having a breakthrough year in the minors, but instead look to move him up the following season. Otherwise I am at a lost.

I thought the Sox have mentioned him as a possible callup, but we have never seen him up yet that I can remember. When your bullpen puts up an ERA of close to 8 over two months it makes you wonder why we aren't looking at some of our supposed talent in the minors. What is Carlos V's numbers right now?

His walk rate is brutal. How well do you think that will translate to the major league level?

Plus our lefties have done a decent job, we need a righty to step up. If Thornton were to be dealt before the deadline I think Vasquez would get the call.

Vazquez has posted a good ERA, but his WHIP is bad. He is giving up too many hits and walks and his ERA is probably below what you would expect for that. He does show some promise but he needs to working on his control and Hits Per IP rate.

I don't think anyone in our system would have fixed our bullpen woes. You can say we can find a Winston-Salem reliever who could do better than Day, or to bring up Carlos Vasquez...but you know what? I trust Kenny Williams' & Co. to bring up the best reliever in the system. They have more insight than somebody reading the Baseball America Prospect Handbook (this includes Joe Cowley).

Left-hander Andrew Sisco allowed eight runs on nine hits in one-third of an inning in Triple-A Charlotte's 11-3 loss at Columbus.

Anybody who watched a royals game last year should have known sisco was going so suck
