Chisoxfn
Whether you have a question about a movie or if you just saw a movie and want to comment on it, this is the thread for you. I will start if off by saying I saw American Psycho last night and all I can say is what a strange strange movie. I also caught Harry Potter this week and must say that as a whole I was a bit disappointed. The movie wasn't near as good as its predecessors and it appeared to be much more of a set up for the next movie (in the sense that there really wasn't' much action while all the other movies had a lot of action packed/exciting moments). Chisoxfn
This thread has also been pinned for your viewing pleasure (since people consistently use it throughout the year this will keep it on PG 1).
Rowand44
Live Free or Die Hard was pretty insane. Pretty much the most unrealistic movie ever but it was quite awesome.
Brian
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 03:32 AM) Live Free or Die Hard was pretty insane. Pretty much the most unrealistic movie ever but it was quite awesome. When my dad and I saw 'Casino Royale', a guy next to use said he didn't like it because it was 'fake and unrealistic'. I told him not to see 'Happy Feet' because it has talking and singing penguins.
knightni
Movies I've seen this month: Evan Almighty: Very family friendly, has some funny moments. Plot's mediocre but I thought it was a nice movie. Going to flop at the box office because the general public doesn't like clean movies that reference bible stories. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Very quick-moving, similar to the last movie. But, it seems to rush a lot. JK Rowling's on track to write a War and Peace-sized Deathly Hallows book, so it's tough to fit 7 hours of book into 2 and a half hours of film time. But, I felt cheated, like I was a a museum an hour before closing and was being pushed along through the stuff I hadn't seen yet. Transformers: Awesome effects but a pointless plot that went nowhere. Frank Welker got the shaft when they chose Hugo Weaving to voice Megatron. All in all, I'd say rewatch it for... MEGAN FOX OMG!. Seeing Black Sheep this week - has anyone seen the preview for that? (not the Chris Farley movie)

sox4lifeinPA
GO, RUN, DANCE your way to see "Hairspray"!!!!! A bunch of friends and me and the mrs went to see it at a drive-in last night (sub question, does anyone else have 2 drive-ins within 20 minutes of them? let alone 1?) We had a great time. The movie was terrific, the music was memorable, the plot was clear, the singing and dancing was awesome. John Travolta was the only weird part. I happened to meet the real Devine when filming the original John Waters film, and he(she) pulled off drag much more accurately (is that even the right word?). I hope the academy does this movie right. It was clean and fun and full of life. Best Picture, Best Song, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best adaptation. Brian
Patrick Bateman: "When I see a pretty girl walking down the street, I think two things. One part wants me to take her out, talk to her, be real nice and sweet and treat her right." David Van Patten: And what did the other part think? Patrick Bateman: "What her head would look like on a stick...” [laughs]

BigSqwert
I highly recommend that you do not rent "Shortbus". This is the first movie in a long time that I turned off without finishing it. If you enjoy lousy acting, lame characters, and graphic 3-way sex involving men than go ahead and rent it. Otherwise I would pass on it.

Otherwise I would pass on it. I really could have used this advice a few months ago. One of my friends recommended it to me, which i found out was as a joke later, so I order it on Netflix because the description didnt sound so bad. I pop it in and sure enough the very first seen is like some guy blowing himself and one of his neighbors watching through a window. i come to find out that its revenge for when I told him to rent Duece Bigalow European Gigolo because it was one of the funniest movies of all time. Kid Gleason
Went to the drive-in and saw two flicks: I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry : I can't stand Adam Sandler, but I do like Kevin James a lot. Funny guy who can pretty much make anything work. While he is on screen, he makes this film tolerable at best. When he is off-screen (which is much of the time), it's a painful, painful, painful movie. I laughed maybe twice. But they were more of a sudden outburst of a laugh, followed quickly by a chuckle. The first laugh was so loud more out of shock than actual humor. I think the follow-up chuckle was more of confusion than anything else. But the movie was just bad...just real bad. Normally my wife and her sisters can find some enjoyment in these types of movies, but not this time. None of us liked it. Transformers: Never bought the toys, never watched the old show. Thought the idea was kind of silly when I was younger. Found it odd that it was being turned into a movie, found it even more odd that people were upset about "liberties" being taken with the original "story". I had no interest in seeing it until friends started telling me how good it was, and my son REALLY wanted to see it. I loved it. Absolutely the movie of the summer (until I finally see Ratatoullie). That Shia guy does really carry the movie until the Autobots show up, but once they get there, the whole thing becomes REALLY cool. Optimus is a really cool character, and the action (though tough to see at times) is really fun. The whole movie was just a perfect night at the drive-in, and I can't wait to see it on a good screen! I keep trying to convince myself that it'd be worth seeing, but I can't do it.
