Brian
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) I may be one of a small minority, but I'm REALLY looking forward to August 31st....Halloween by Rob Zombie. He has been waiting and wanting to do a Halloween "Michael Myers revisited" type movie for a while. I've not missed a Halloween premeire at the theater since Halloween 4 all those years ago. I wanna see it. I like that it is not just a remake but they go into some other stuff, like seeing Michael as a kid in the hospital and such. My biggest fear is that Zombie will gore it up where it is too much.

My Mom (coolest ever) took me and my younger brother (he was 8 and I was 11) to see the first Halloween on the day it opened in 1978. If that wasn't cool enough, she let us stay home from school to do it, and we stayed and watched it twice! My mom actually blew off picking my dad up from the the train station that evening to watch Halloween a second time. :headbang
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 09:42 AM) Superbad was soooooo funny! I haven't laughed that hard since blades of glory! Rush Hour 3 was really good and funny too! That's not saying much. That movie sucked. It was nowhere close to being a Will Ferrell-type-funny movie. People laughed at it because it was Ferrell, same as people laughed at the Simpsons movie because it was the Simpsons. Neither were funny.

I trust Rob Zombie to actually go for a true horror story instead of all the garbage horror movies that come out now that are about somebody or something jumping out of the dark for cheap scares. And I think he has too much respect for the series to just "gore it up," which is another way for s***ty directors to get cheap scares.

Exactly how I felt. It was the same of what I thought of Sin City.

Zombie has an incredible grasp of what made 70's horror movies so successful. He doesnt make any pretense of it being realistic, uses the gore to his advantage, and gives horror fans what they want to see. I think he is a great throwback to his genre, and I was really impressed with house of 1000 corpses. It reminded me of some of the older horror movies i used to watch with my cousin(Boogins, ghoulies, critters, re-animator, texas chainsaw massacre, Nightmare on Elm St, Friday the 13th). Im really looking forward to his interpretation of Mike Meyers and his origin.
Sonik22
House of 1000 corpses was really f***ed up but by far the scariest modern horror movie i've seen. I can't wait for Zombie's remake of Halloween.

They feel he is getting better, but still missing the boat for the most part. I expect his Halloween to be the best of his work, but still completely void of what made the original the classic it is. But the main complaint is that he might have the visuals down (to a certain degree), but he is missing the heart of the old stuff. I personally can't say, as I have yet to see any of his films. They just don't look interesting to me. I don't think there is a guy in the Horror world that anybody really is looking to with "savior" eyes. I think the one most fans agree is doing right by the genre in Del Toro. He doesn't dumb it down and you can tell he LOVES the genre. Zombie though is a total dividing line. You either love him or hate him. Kind of like Eli Roth and the whole torture film world.

His "growth" in the film business has probably been stunted a little bit by his foray into music, and his first couple films were probably just getting his feet wet, i expect a much better film and storyline out of Halloween. I saw something interesting on his wikipedia page: Both brothers went to college, but Rob dropped out to pursue different ideas. Rob got his start by working as a technician for Pee Wee's Playhouse It was also during this point that he met future White Zombie band-mate Sean Yseult. LOL, PeeWees playhouse warps another mind. anyhow, back to the discussion. right now Halloween is going to be quite a risky undertaking for Zombie if you ask me. The true fans of the franchise will probably reject it off hand without even seeing it(of course not all will do this), casual fans will see "remake" and walk away, and that leaves Zombie with the task of drawing in some new fans. So Zombie has to leave it all on the table with this movie, or else he is going to be the guy who came out with one movie that no studio would touch (House of 1000 corpses), a movie that met with a lukewarm reception(The Devils rejects), and a bad remake(Halloween). Im happy he did the right thing and at least will release the film on Halloween.

I just dont understand releasing a movie like this now when you can maximize the revenue a month and a half later. Its going to be an old hat in october, everyones opinions about it are going to affect new people seeing the movie, where they could generate some hype about it through the month of october and get butts in the seats. Brian
I believe the last 2 Halloween movies, "H20" and "Resurrection", both came out in August of their respective years. I dug H20, but Resurrection was brutal.

Kid Gleason
H20 did come out in August, and it was the highest grossing Halloween flick next to the original. Granted it also must be realized that one championed the return of Laurie, so I don't know how much the month truely mattered. But you know the numbers dictated the release date. It's Nikola Tesla. 2.) He was Serbian. Well I'll be darned - I always thought he was Russian. I probably added the "i" to his name for the same reason. At least I got the physicist/psycho part right.
