RibbieRubarb
The new uncensored "red-band" trailer for Beowulf is out! This looks bad-ass!! And speaking of ass, Angelina Jolie is naked in the trailer...she is animated, though. http://www.beowulfmovie.com/restricted/index.html Edited September 5, 2007 by RibbieRubarb

Kalapse
It's supposed to be one of the strangest action movies you're ever going to see and I'm actually some what excited to see it.

Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 08:58 AM) A studio copy was relased and from what I saw it's not even close to all "blood and gore". Variety hasn't "gotten" horror films in a long time so the review isn't a surprise. I beg to differ. There is a ton of blood and gore as well as an unnecessary amount of sex. It completely craps on the spirit and style of the original, IMO. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 09:24 AM) My question is, did Zombie really need to add a brutal gang rape to the film? It just seemed so unnecessary. It was an absurd situation, too. Myers is f***ing huge and dangerous. He's unchained in his room. And they f***ing decide it's a good idea to rape one of the inmates in his room while he's painting when they've been told 1. Don't touch his masks 2. Don't talk s*** 3. He's a hella crazy motherf***er I don't care how big a piece of white trash the guards were, it simply didn't make sense whatsoever that they'd provoke Michael Myers and invite him to get in on it when they know that all he wants to do is paint. Jesus Christ, this movie was a piece of s***, and I'm glad all the critics agree. -- I saw "The Bubble," a foreign film about homosexual lovers in the middle east who live in Israel/Palestine, are Israeli/Palestinian, and suffer together. It was very moving and touching, though it laid certain things on far too thick. (That's about the sex, yes, but also made certain things oral that should've gone unspoken.) Brian
Remember the movie "Open Water"? Based on true events about the couple that got left behind in the ocean. They made a straight to DVD sequel which is also based on true events. It's available for free on Demand and I have 90 minutes to waster before I leave for work. Can't wait to see how bad this is. Gregory Pratt
Halloween is, objectively speaking and without thinking about the original, a crummy film. As a remake of the Carpenter movie it's a heinous abortion.
Gregory Pratt
Oh, and you know what else? Michael Myers kills people because 1. They're bad to his mom and him 2. He thinks he's ugly. 3. He got picked on. Oh, how deep! His "film," if we can call it that, was supposed to be Myers' backstory. And it has a little, but the backstory took a backseat to tits, gore and absurdities that go above and beyond the usual horror film's.

One thing that isn't a spoiler, in Carpenters, didn't they show Michaels mom and dad running through the house during the opening scene after he kills his sister? That negates everything in the first act. Don't get me started on the "remake" act.

Probably right. This movie sucks. I'm FWDing through it pretty much. The one doctor from Grey's Anatomy is in it. There are no sharks or anything. Just six people screaming in the water, trying to climb back on a boat because they jumped in and forgot to lower the ladder. It is a big yacht so they can't jump on. Oh yeah, and they leave a baby on board so it cries the whole time.

I can think of no director that can find more range within the black-brown-grey spectrum (of colors and of characters).
southsider2k5
I also saw seven again the other night, and had forgotten how good the movie was. There was actually suspense to it, which is hard to find anymore.

Yeah, as I was just saying earlier, the horror genre (I'd call Seven something between horror and suspense) is pretty devoid of any quality nowadays. Fincher even managed to make Alien3 a good movie, when it really shouldn't have been. Fight Club was also quite good. I really hope he stays on track to do Rendezvous with Rama. That negates everything in the first act. Don't get me started on the "remake" act. No. Carpenters version ends (the beginning ends) with Mom and Dad getting out of their car and pulling Michaels mask off (from his view) and saying "Michael?", at which point the camera pulls back revealing to us for the first time that it was a kid. That was where the prologue ends. Also, in the first film (the original), Michael and Laurie are NOT brother and sister. That came about in the TV version of Halloween 2 and is something Carpenter even admits to regreting.

I had high hopes for this movie after seeing the trailer and that leaked sex scene. After watching it I wanted to find a reason for liking it but I couldn't. No it's not an instant classic by all means (and to a lesser extent more of a movie for the "younger generation I.E. college students and such, but even some are critics of it. Or you can just say typical dumb people who like to see alot of shootings with no plot) but IMO, it was good.
