Early reviews aren't great for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".

I always liked Wolverine, but my biggest draw to go see this new flick is Ryan Reynolds as the very beginning of Deadpool. Man, did I love that comic, and what a perfect casting job.

I hope this leads to a Deadpool flick, though I don't know how popular that comic actually was...

If you are a big Deadpool fan then you are going to be super pissed with what they did with his character

I'm more pissed I posted this in the Video Game thread instead of the Films thread.

I have a feeling that the "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon" Game is going to become the "6 Degrees of Seth Rogen" game or the "6 Degrees of Ryan Reynolds" game.

Six Degrees of Samuel L. Jackson.

Wolverine actually got a favorable review from screenrant.com, which surprises me. Although he complained about the lack of blood in some of the scenes, and said the claw CGI somehow regressed from the first couple movies

Filimg has begun on Iron Man 2:

USAToday-

Tony Stark is out of the superhero closet, and it's no picnic.

The sequel to last summer's blockbuster, which began shooting three weeks ago and opens May 7, 2010, takes place six months after Stark revealed his identity as Iron Man, says director Jon Favreau. And the development is playing out with unexpected results. "How many superheroes are open about their true identities?" he asks. "We wanted to play with that idea. But it obviously has consequences — in his relationships, on the team. There are a lot of areas we can explore."

He hopes to have all other Iron Man 2 details locked down — even though he's sending dispatches via Twitter from the set. "It's never easy with summer movies, but we're trying to keep as much a surprise as possible," he says.

That means no new dirt on replacing Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle, or how the crime-fighting team S.H.I.E.L.D. will ultimately come together. Or how he'll work in new characters. Among those signed on for this go-round are Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer.

Favreau says that tackling the franchise a second time is easier because he knows the landscape. Something else would help, too: "I really enjoyed when we were a dark horse and no one knew much about us. ... I hope we can find that place again."

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine".

Am I to assume by the title that there will be more than one "X-Men Origins" movie? The title lends it self to swapping out Wolverine with some other character. I wouldnt mind seeing a "X-Men Origins: Professor X" or "X-Men Origins: Magneto"

How big of a money hit do they expect the Wolverine movie is gonna take with the leak of the directors cut bootleg dvd that got out. It seems like everyone has seen it like a month ago.

This is a definite. There is also a X-Men Origins: First Class being developed with a story of how Professor X gathered Beast/Angel/Cyclops/Jean Grey and started his academy. Although from what I have been reading it seems like the class will not be consistent with what the actual comic storyline is(ie. one of those characters will be switched out for another).

Im sure a Professor X Origins plot is being developed as well.

On a side note, I read the other day that Ridley Scott wants to take Aliens back and do either a prequel, or a reboot(which is odd since he is the original director. Its very strange to restart your own storyline). Either way, thats good news. The directors that attempted to take the franchise in another direction failed.

Apparently it surpassed Iron Man in pre-sales, and that is a pretty good indicator.

The cgi sequences in the leaked version were supposed to be extreme rough cuts, so anybody going for the cgi wouldn't be spoiled. The way it sounds like they fokked up the origin I don't have much desire to see it.

Oh the leaked version was hysterical. The cgi cuts were funny watching the mannequines fly around but the part where the actors have ropes attached to their backs were a riot. I have NO desire to see this now that I seen the leaked version.

My favorite Rotten Tomato blurb on Wolverine:

Not since George Lucas spent more than six hours detailing in excruciating and inconsequential detail how Darth Vader came into existence has a popular character's story arc seemed so irrelevant.

I don't really agree with this. I thought all of the first three alien films were good, though different - the first (Scott) was more true sci-fi with some horror element, the second (Cameron) was a actioner but a good one, and the third (Fincher) was slightly less actioner and slightly more drama and sci-fi. After the third one, which I thought was a lot better than it got credit for, I was happy with the trilogy. And that is a hell of a trio of directors.

Then came the fourth one. That was just awful.

And I didn't even bother with AvP.

Ok, I will agree with that, but argue that Fincher and Cameron stayed within the blueprint that Scott laid out, and from the 4th movie forward each director tried to take the storyline elsewhere(human/alien crossbreed, AVP) which was a tremendous failure.

When I saw Singer was not involved, I didnt have much hope for Wolverine.

Singer hasnt been involved since X-Men 2

And X-2 was damn good while X-3 was awful.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. And the only reason Singer wasnt involved was because Marvel did not want to allow Singer to do both Superman(Mr DC) and finish the trilogy, so they told Singer to walk and put the keys in the hands of Brett Ratner, who turned it into a "look at all of the different mutants!" crapfest.

I wish Singer could be afforded the option of making his own alternate ending movie.
