MHizzle85
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) Across the Universe This is why I love Dave White... I was dragged to this last night, I fell asleep during it. Maybe it's my dis-likeness for musicals, but it just didn't do it for me.

3E8
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) King of Kong is one of the better documentaries I have ever seen. It's a movie about some of the biggest nerds on the face of the planet yet it keeps you entertained the whole way through. What an awesome movie. I'm genuinely pissed after just heading to Twin Galaxies to see who has the world record..
Brian
So 'Gremlins' is on HBO and I always had a question about the 3rd rule, Don't ever let them eat after midnight. What is the cut off time? It's actually always after midnight. Is it between midnight and 6am they can't eat? What if I get a Mogwai? I need to know. Kid Gleason
Anybody bother to read any of the message boards at the King Of Kong website? I haven't seen the movie, but if those are any indication, it must be a VERY exciting movie! LOL!
Kalapse
QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) What an awesome movie. I'm genuinely pissed after just heading to Twin Galaxies to see who has the world record.. *plenty of spoilers* The Mitchell tape controversy REALLY pissed me off. I found myself wanting to strangle that f***ing referee. The final scene in the movie where they had an update to the standings had me cheering from my seat and later jumping for joy. They build up the characters throughout the film so damn well that you can't help but become emotionally invested in the ups and downs that Webe goes through and flat out HATE Billy Mitchell. And yeah, checking the standings on the website after the movie upset me as well.

Buehrle>Wood
I really, REALLY need somewhere to see this movie that isn't a theater on the Northside.
3E8
You could go to Cantera 30 in Warrenville, but that's not much closer than the Northside edit: assuming you live in Palos Heights Edited September 17, 2007 by 3E8
BigSqwert
Watched Renaissance this weekend. Very cool animated cyber-thriller. A bit long but solid. http://tinyurl.com/2r2a5g Edited September 17, 2007 by BigSqwert
juddling
I'm pretty sure it was talked about before but just this past weekend i rented Casino Royale and loved every second of it. I'm not a huge Bond fan and can't remember the last time i saw a Bond movie from beginning to end but this movie was wonderful The first action scene alone was something else. I can't believe there was discussion of Daniel Craig not making a good Bond. I can't wait for the next one. Brian
Got the extended version of "The 40 Year Old Virgin". The extended Date-A-Palooza and the extended "Know how I know You're Gay" scenes are awesome.
Buehrle>Wood
I was finally able to watch King of Kong and I can say I'm impressed. It was a very good movie. Also read up on an EGM follow-up article to the movie and they describe some inaccuracies: 1. There was no actual break in into Wiebe's garage(Which the movie does not directly say, but certainly infers). Kuh and Rodgers were actually welcomed in to wait for Wiebe and were even given quarters to play the game. 2. The fuzzy tape was approved the day it was seen...only to be taken down the next day and Wiebe again was recognized as the record holder. That is until 240 days later when the fuzzy tape was approved again and Mitchell was again the record holder. 3. Mitchell actually did go into the restaurant with his family to greet Wiebe. He didn't ditch him as it turns out. 4. The fact that Mitchell doesn't play publicly was pretty much put to rest. Mitchell had actually even played against Wiebe before the filming had started(Although it was on an emulated machine and therefore considered not competitive). Mitchell is quoted on saying he wouldn't play in Florida because he hadn't played in over a year and was only on a 3 day notice. Who knows though. With regard to four, they played "together" but not quite. As for three, that's interesting. One? They didn't break in but nobody ever said they did, implications be damned, and Mitchell definitely sent them to try and look for something, anything to discredit Wiebe. Buehrle>Wood
Also, they are making the documentary into a feature film with Johnny Depp potentially playing the part of Mitchell. That should be interesting.

Wiebe's wife pretty much said that the 2 men took advantage of her elderly mother. That she told them they had to go elsewhere until her husband came home but once she left they were invited in by someone who really had no business doing so (her momma.) RibbieRubarb
I watched "Vertigo" last night with the wife. She had never seen it before. Its one of my favorite movies of all time. Thrilling, sad, romantic and haunting. What a beautiful film. Also, it struck me how much Elisha Cuthbert looks like Kim Novak. Lucky her...and us. The scene where she wakes up naked in his bed. Even today...wow. She was only 25 at the time. Stunning. Jimmy was 50. Lucky bastard. Pays to be an actor, boys...even then.
