SoxFanForever
I enjoyed QoS. Not as good as Casino Royale. However, it didn't deserve the negative reviews it received. I think it's funny how critics like Ebert say Bond isn't an action character. I guess he never watched Roger Moore skiing down a mountain and killing baddies, Connery taking out Goldfinger's baddies at Fort Knox, etc. Oh well, to each their own. NorthSideSox72
Saw QoS. Pretty disappointing. Had a few good action sequences - and really only a few were good. But other than that it was really devoid of anything interesting. Not nearly the movie that Casino Royale was. I'd put QoS firmly in the bottom half of Bond movies. Milkman delivers
Quantum Of Solace was enjoyable. I'm not a Bond fan, but the movie kept me interested throughout. What's more interesting to me were some of the previews. There's a movie coming out called 2012, which is about the end of the world theory. It'll probably be the same as every other movie in that genre, but they always interest me. And I really want to see Valkyrie. That's the one about the assassination plot against Hitler by German army officers. Those two previews caused me to do a considerable amount of Wikipedia research. Here's the trailer. Interesting choice of music. It must be one hell of a disaster to cause 15,000+ ft waves, enough to compeltely cover mountains in what I'm guessing is Tibet. Saw something on the 2012 stuff on the History Channel (I think) earlier this week. One theory is that a planetary alignment of the earth, moon, and a black hole on the winter solstice (Dec 21, 2012) could cause the poles of the earth to shift and hence the massive upheavals you mentioned. Kid Gleason
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) Who's Irwin Allen? Not sure if you are joking or not...but just in case, he is considered the King of the disaster films. He also produced a couple of little Sci-Fi TV shows like Lost In Space, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea and Time Tunnel. But he produced The Posiden Adventure and Towering Inferno, and was pretty much responsible for every single disaster flick, either by producing or influence. I luved The Poseidon Adventure as a kid and have it on DVD... Anyways, I watched forgetting sarah marshall this week. I did not laugh. Maybe one or two forced chuckles when the other people I was watching it with laughed... And I saw Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr's character, I forget his name and comic book buffs may chastise me, was a little too calm and cocky for me liking. It was ok, but obviously nowhere near The Dark Knight. I also took my little brother to see Madagascar 2. It was alright. The last time I took him to the movies was for Wall-E, so it might be a while for me to thoroughly enjoy a kids movie like that... I agree, the original Poseidon Adventure was awesome and Sarah Marshall was way overblown. But, I liked Iron Man more than TDK.

Stark was never as much of a comedian as Downey Jr. gets. He's more "stuffy" so to speak. I also would never picture Stark listening to Suicidal Tendencies. But I do LOVE Downey in the role. Critic, no. I'm not a big Trek fan, though I have seen most of the movies. This is definitely a serious reboot. The characters, uniforms, ships, etc. are familiar. But the cast, the look and feel, the sound... all very new. I do love the intro to McCoy (Karl Urban I think) quote: "Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence" Oh, and, Simon Pegg as Scotty is pure genius. And the Spock dude looks pretty amazing. great casting. I think I may have to see this.
