Catch-All Anything Thread

I'm back home for the next 3 weeks or so, and today I saw someone I went to high school with, and found out he goes to Iowa State. Since seeing him, I've just been wondering why the hell anyone would go there.

The only reason I can suspect is that he got a scholarship for playing hockey, because I know he's on the team, but still.. if you're from New Jersey (like I am), why would you go to Iowa State of all schools? I thought my going to Minnesota was strange enough, but wow.

Really?

My friend from HS did not go to college right after high school and decided to play semi-pro hockey in Canada. When he changed his mind he went to Iowa State to play on their hockey team (He's a senior now.) I don't how much of a scholarship he is getting however.

Thats actually what this guy did too, took a year off and played junior hockey, and now he's at ISU. I doubt that its a scholarship because of what Heads said about it not being an intercollegiate college team, he must have just been recruiting by ISU when he was playing during the year inbetween.

No offense, but there's a feeling here that the hockey guys are really just kind of weird.

None taken, I wasn't good friends with him when I went to school with him, I just had him in some of my classes and we exchanged pleasantries, etc. I imagine that if you're playing hockey at a place like ISU to begin with, you've gotta be weird :P

Lost power at the house for 6 hours today.

Couldn't ask for nicer weather for a power outage.

Wearing a coat inside the house = AWESOME.

The wife was worried about all the food we bought for Christmas dinner, I told her all we'd need to do to keep it cold is put it in the garage.

One category should definitely be "Poster most likely to have used steroids within last year"

(or "Most likely to turn alcoholic after college", obviously Heads :P)

I need help with something. I'm an idiot and spilled water on my cell phone. I have insurance. From what I read, I would have to pay a 50$ deductable to get it replaced. Fine with me. But I will get the same kind of phone in return right?

Is this what your phone company said? My dad did the same thing and he took his phone in, explained what happened, and they only charged him $50 for a new phone.

I don't know if it is scripted or not but Snoop cracks me up. When his wife catches him at Roscoe's with Beckham, there is some gold from Snoop there in trying to get himself out of trouble. "I was talking to David Becker, he is in a movie called GOAL."

No doubt about it, that show is hilarious. It just drives me crazy that they cant even prop his house up a little bit.Is the budget that small for the show?Imagine that house being on Cribs it would be a joke.

Coming in to work today was a complete waste of time.

Almost no one here, nothing to do except useless "mid-year reviews".

Awful.

And since I have to take the train to my wife's job to pick up the kid, then take two trains back to my car and slog home through the snow, I should enjoy a fabulous 3-hour commute home.

In the absence of the vomit smiley, these will have to suffice:

:violin :crying
