Greg The Bull Luzinski
Just looking at the Rockies roster, they have Francis and then a huge drop off in starting pitching. Their #2 guy is really Josh Fogg. If the D-Backs are all pitching, the Rox appear to get by mostly on offense.

That team made 13 fewer errors than any other team in the majors, and they were simultaneously #4 in putouts. It sure looks like they're making up for their team's lack of really dominant pitchers by having pitchers who let batters put the ball in play & count on their defense to do the job. And those numbers sure suggest to me that it worked.
Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) Ubaldo Jimenez has some nasty stuff, and could be a major factor for them. It's a shame Cook and Hirsh went down. The Rocks have a nice little thing going in Colorado. That game Hirsh pitched on a broken leg was sick. Admittedly, the Rockies gain about as much of my interest as the Washington Nationals and the crumbs than built up at the bottom of the toaster. That being said, it still amazes me that they made it this far with such borderline pitching.

fathom
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) Thats a real shame, as the Rockies have one of the best lineups in the game. 2-7, they match up with anyone. Francis, Jimenez, and Morales looks to be a great trio to build on for them. Aaron Cook is also someone who would be very good with a different team. That italicized quote is shameless as hell. And I dislike Bonds because he disgraced himself and dishonored himself and knows it. Besides that, I've always acknowledged that most players are juiced up. I'm not stupid, but Helton is a good hitter whether or not he used steroids and he's had some back problems that may have more to do with his decline in power than anything else. But even without his homer power, he's still doubling like mad.

Why with a different team? He's with the Rockies -- the past two years he's pitched ~380 innings of 115 ERA+. He's a fine pitcher, very underrated in fact. Perhaps if ESPN spent a little less time worshipping at the alter of the Red Sox and Yankees, I might know a little more about them. But just like the Chicago media puts the White Sox 2nd, the national media pays almost no interest to an alleged baseball team in Colorado. witesoxfan
I definitely believe that if this game is put into Helton's hands at some point in time, the Rockies are going to win. He looks locked in right now. Hell, he almost hit that ball in the first inning out of park to center, and he looked off balance when he swung.
