Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) THe more I think about it the more Rex needs to be back. Michaels and Madden brought up a good point and the thing is if you get rid of Rex you are quitting for good on him and going to Griese who is just a stopgap solution (and that my be enough) but this early in the season I Think you still have to see Grossman (I would completely give up on him if it weren't for so many other guys playing so badly around him and a lot of the things Rex has messed up on actually have been due to the other guys and not really him). I recall a quote I heard before which said, "there's no such thing as a knee-jerk reaction in the NFL concerning quarterbacks." Teams dedicate so much to the position, and you just don't see anyone go back and forth between quarterbacks early unless it's for good. Personally, and I base this on nothing more than my own opinion, I believe these next three divisional games will decide his fate. Then it'll be Grossman or Griese to finish out the season. knightni
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 11:50 PM) Oh and for anyone to b**** at him for throwing out of bounds, your an idiot. He throws out of bounds when there is nothing there and I want him to do that 100% of the time. You know why I b**** at him for doing it? Because real NFL QBs move out of the pocket and try and get a few yards running or dump the ball off. He stands there like a house on the side of the road and waits to get killed or throws it away in an important down scenario. Rex is afraid to run since his injury. Gages Loves Me
This sums up the game pretty well: Grossman takin' it up the ass. Edited September 24, 2007 by Gage Loves Me
DBAHO
Well 10 pages of thread since I last posted on my lunch break. Certainly a fantastic result for us, and perhaps a changing of the guard when it came to the NFC. First of all, hopefully this performance will shut up the Tony Romo doubters for a while. Reading the smug Chicago Media last night, it was all "Romo ain't nothing until he does it against an elite defense". Well he did it tonight alright. Bad start, but over 300 yards passing in 2 quarters approx. He's got some fantastic weapons for sure (Owens and Witten easily top 3 in their spots in the NFL), but the guy knows how to scramble and create plays. Marion Barber keeps outproducing Julis Jones. Give this guy the ball against a tiring defense in the 4th quarter and he's money. The Bears are really missing Thomas Jones now, they need that 2 back system again IMHO no matter how good they may think Benson is. Unless you have an elite RB, you need 2. As for the Bears, well they're certainly in a spot of trouble. They could manage games if they can get the running game going, but when that doesn't happen as per tonight, then it puts all of the pressure on Rex, and with his lack of weapons, he can't do it. That defense will certainly get them into the playoffs, but I don't see them anything better than 9-7, 10-6 right now. They've got plenty of time to prove me wrong though. They will still be in the playoffs due to the fact they are in the NFC. How huge is next weeks game now? I would hate to be 1-3 going into the GB game. kwolf68
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 12:13 AM) Straw Poll: Do the Bears make the postseason?? I say no. No. The defense is starting to get too many injuries and teams will avoid Hester this year (sure, he'll bring a few back but not as many). That means the offense will need to score more than 10 pts a game to win. Against some teams they won't be able to do that. The team has scored 3-13-10 offensive points in three games this year (26 total points) against defenses that have all been proven vulnerable. San Diego got rolled by Green Bay, rolled by New England, but looked like the best team ever against the Bears. Dallas gave up something like 70 pts in their first two with the amazingly bad Miami Dolphins even getting 20. It's not looking like a good situation. Still, if they somehow manage to win the next two they are right back in the drivers seat. Now I have no earthly clue how this will happen, but I guess it could.
