FlaSoxxJim
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) we will have a land mark that looks like a vibrator and one that looks like a bean Chicago rules Meat and One Veg? Actually, I kinda like the bean. It doesn't mess up the skyline and it is a fitting anchor for the Art Institute end of Grant Park. Jaded as I am about the Soldier Field renovation and the pending Vibrator, I admit that I really thunk they did a great job with Millenium Park. southsider2k5
I think I must be alone when I say I can't wait to see how the skyline looks with the new building. People don't like change at all, and that is evident when you think back to all of the major changes that have happened in Chicago, and all of the b****ing that went with them. Now nobody really remembers that, and instead is in awe of what we have. I am sure the Spire will be the sameway.
SoxFan1
People seem to be forgetting the new Trump Tower skyscraper being built too. I personally can't wait to see the skyline when both buildings are completed.

I havent seen a model but its being built where The Sun-Times offices used to be on the Chicago River.

Like Rex said, right where the old Sun Times building was. 401 North Wabash. I'd say about 1/3 is completed.
kapkomet
Ah, ok. Between the two, it will definitely change the skyline.

EvilMonkey
I think the Trump one looks much better. Different, yet also fits in with the surroundings.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 07:56 AM) Ah, ok. Between the two, it will definitely change the skyline. The two buildings will really "fill in" the skyline we have today. I always kind of think of Chicago's current look with the Sears Tower and Hancock as bookends, and the rest of the city fitting in between. Trump will fall pretty well into the middle of the traditional Adler Planatarium portrait view. I think the Spire will be right on the end. It ought to look pretty sharp.
