I say keep harris and Rowand out there.

DO you want to win a division? Challenge for a ring? If we are going to go for it, then f***ing GO FOR IT! THose 2 are not good enough to get it done against playoff teams.

You make a good point. But right now both are playing well and deserve to be starting. The only way I make a trade for a CF is if we can get someone that is better than them 2. And as of now I don't see anyone out there.

Well yeah they look okay for now, but neither is a real starting player. I agree, it has to be someone pretty decent, to go for it.

I don't want to give up the farm to try to make a run with a team that is a possible playoff contender. You give up the farm when you have a team right there and you know THIS is the year. This is not the team nor year...i think we can all see that. It's not worth the risk

Challenge for a ring?

We just gave up a Ring.

I wish the Royals would just fall by the wayside so we could get Beltran.

I love the fact that the Sox are in 3rd, two games under .500 and we go out and get a difference maker in Alomar. Yet on the other side of town, the Cubs have been in 1st place most of the season and they go out and trade for Jose Hernandez. LMFAO!!

LOL the farm? If ring and almonte are the farm, we have issues. If we can get a CF for the likes of these two "prospects" who will likely amount to NOTHING, Id do it in a heartbeat.

What kind of CF are you going to get for nothing?

Alomar isn't a huge acquisition compared to some of the names being thrown around. Another mediocre type acquisiton for CF isn't going to put this team over the top. And yes, giving up 3 more players out of your minor leagues is a lot. And you can't say Ring et al will be nothing...we all have no idea. What we do know is Ring is good thus far and was a #1

Well if another deal comes along for a future HOFer where we only give up a relief prospect, a never will be, and a never ever will be, and get his salary paid I would hope we would make the deal. Bmr you know something we don't about CFers out on the market?

24 out of 25( im just guessing) minor league prospects turn out to be nothing, or marginal at best. When you have a chance to win, you go for it.

And the one you give up could be the next great thing.

Going for it, in my mind, is trading for a superstar..the best guys on the market. Not Alomar. He's a middle of the road guy at the end of his career. This is more of a strengthening of the team, not going for a world series or bust.

Passive thinking isnt going to get you anywhere. Look at Almonte right now. He is the perfect example of a future stud who crashed and burned. These guys arent s*** unless theyve proven something on the major league level. Keep your TOP prospects, and if you can get something for the 2nd level prospects, and its going to help you win, you go for it. I have to praise KW.

Well it all depends what you think of Ring then.

And we just disagree about what "going for it" means. He's taking a low risk shot at improving the team. Absolutely going for it would be trading one of your top guys and going for broke (ala Lowell and Benitez and other guys)..that's all i'm saying.

Oh no. I just mean maybe packaging Rowand and a prospect to upgrade at CF. I dont mean going for Beltran or anything like that.

So you were in favor of the Todd Ritchie trade then? It was the same type of deal. Wells was the only REAL prospect in the deal.

The difference of going for it in my mind

Cubs are "going for it" if they trade Zambrano, etc to get Lowell. Otherwise they can trade other guys for a decent upgrade that's low risk (Jose Hernandez if you will). I don't think cubs fans said "well, we're going for it" after Jose donned a Cubs uni. Sure, they are trying to improve their chances. But if it doesn't work, no biggie, right. Now, if they go for Lowell, you'll find cubs fans saying "this is the year"...and they'll be giving up the farm to go for it.

GET KENNY LOFTON NOW

He will cost us nothing and our center D will be 100% better.....we get one more LH bat ..... and we get some more speed

Speed kills

Our lineup would be

Kenny L

R Alomar

Frank T

Maggs

Daubach (PK)

Lee

Valentine

Crede

Olivo

Willie Harris as utility O/F and Graffanino as utility I/F

I just wanted a major league CF.
