vandy125
QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 08:36 PM) Not mine, the Twins got two scrubs. Two scrubs, even though they were guaranteed two scrubs already! What an awesome deal they got compared to us! Do I really need the green for that second part?
santo=dorf
So how many minds about the Iguchi trade does this change? Did KW set the market? If the Sox got more, or a better player for Iguchi do you think the Twins would still receive the same package?
29andPoplar
Sorry, But 2005 was a fluky year.. Can KW reproduce it.. I don't think so, he failed to do it before 05 and after. Ryan, had some bad year yes..but, he was building one of the best farm systems around, KW never has produced anything from our farm... From what I'm seeing these two prospects the Twins got for Castillo are nothing special (of course nothing is guaranteed either way). If the Twins would've held onto Castillo, they would've been at least entitled to a supplemental pick. Taking this further, if Ryan is great at drafting and building a farm system, which I'm not arguing: - wouldn't the Twins fans be completely pissed they traded this guy for marginal prospects, thereby foregoing a decent draft choice, and - what kind of message does this send to the Twins fans and Twins players about this season, have they thrown in the towel? As for the first part of your post, please stop. A World Series win is a World Series win. It's in the record books, it counts, style points don't. I would guess Ryan is under a bit more heat than Williams at the moment.
Chisoxfn
I thought it was a poor move by the Twins (but than again I am not scouting those other playesr nor am I that familiar with them). Still, based on what the Twins got for a superior 2nd baseman (because the guy that Sox have at least has an arm and while he's a reliever he has at least something to work with) plus he freed up a roster spot. I was pleased with the Iguchi deal and am now more pleased with it based upon the Castillo deal. Hell, I think in all my Iguchi trade proposals I never asked for anything more than an low a guy with some sort of upside (and this reliever is potentially that, plus I guess the Sox are going to move him into the rotation). I was pretty dissapointed at this trade, and the Twins trading in gerenal. We need a bat, and all we get is a AAA player called up to take the place of Punto at 3B (for me, it goes back to the free agent period last season, where the only moves was to bring RonDL back and sign jeff Cirillo) you can read some of the thought of Twins fans here http://www.startribune.com/blogs/christensen/?p=279#comments Edited August 1, 2007 by Benchwarmerjim

Yeah, he got really screwed on the Garcia, Contreras, Vazquez, Thome, and Danks trades.

Any truth to this? Yeah, he got really screwed on the Garcia, Contreras, Vazquez, Thome, and Danks trades. He is pissed...and I don't think Minny was going to sign him anyway. Although I would be surprised if they didn't hold on to him just for the picks in 2009. And Jimbo...did you just see that the Pirates picked up Matt Morris? MATT MORRIS!!! I don't know, but Rajai Davis is supposed to be a decent prospect, BUT the Pirates took ALL of Morris' salary. Now THAT is a bad deal. I mean, why? I think Littlefied has Kenny trumped BY A LOT!!! I think the Twins would be absolutely insane to hold onto Santana for only the picks. He could net an absolute king's ransom in a trade this offseason. I mean the kind of ransom that sets a team up to compete for 5 years. He could empty Boston or NY's minor leagues. You can't just let a guy like that walk for draft picks. He's just worth too much.
