Flash Tizzle
Does anyone know what happened to Mackowiak in two years that his value declined from a lefthanded reliever with previous seasons of domination to a high A, 23 year old reliever? It sure wasn't due to poor performance. For everyone who says, "what did you expect," well, I expect more than this. Someone should find the Mackowiak/Marte thread from several years ago and browse through it. I'm sure people were saying, "Marte is a headcase," "Mackowiak is the best utilityman in the league" and other assorted excuses. Another quesiton I have is how exactly the trades of Iguchi and Mackowiak have helped this team prepare for the future? Sure, Richar is now given an extended look at second base, but I'm refering to the value of both players. Garland needed to go. We needed an influx of talent. Williams failed, plain and simple. He should be embarrased with himself. I want to hear him talk to the media and explain how this team has improved entering next season. The only way we're acquiring talent is with a high draft pick at this point. And even there I'm scared we'll f*** it up.

Wanne
Typical Soxtalk household diaries...... Her Diary Tonight I thought he was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a bar to have a drink. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment. Conversation wasn't flowing so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk, he agreed but he kept quiet and absent. I asked him what was wrong - he said, "Nothing." I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said it had nothing to do with me and not to worry. On the way home I told him that I loved him, he simply smiled and kept driving. I can't explain his behavior; I don't know why he didn't say, "I love you, too." When we got home I felt as if I had lost him, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there and watched T.V.; he seemed distant and absent. Finally I decided to go to bed. About 10 minutes later he came to bed and to my surprise he responded to my caress and we made love, but I still felt that he was distracted and his thoughts were somewhere else. I decided that I could not take it anymore, so I decided to confront him with the situation but he had fallen asleep. I started crying and cried until I too fell asleep. I don't know what to do. I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a disaster. HIS DIARY Today Kenny is pushing this team further into the abyss and made another worthless trade, but at least I got laid. chiguy79
I don't mind this move, Mack was overpaid...as long as Pods/Erstad are not back next year we freed up ~$10mm to go after OFs in the off season. I fully expect Owens will be back next year as a cheap option, and they will replace him with another minor-leaguer if he doesn't pan out. Meaning that $10mm can be used to as money to pay dye more and pick up a FA or find two FA. Clearly the Sox weren't given any offers on Dye that they felt were worth more than the draft picks they will get this year. Which is really pathetic considering how good JD was last year. I am surprised we couldn't get rid of Pods as a base stealing option for a contender, I would rather have a bag of chips than watch him drop balls jump over the fence watching balls hit him in the a$$, etc.

LVSoxFan
Just to I understand the Mack trade (BTW Yahoo! Sports rated us a "losers" when it came to "winners & losers" of the trading frenzy), We traded away a solid multi-positional player who had some competitive spark. What we got was: s*** on a shingle. Just wanted to confirm that.
Guest
So are we trading players just because now? pretty much. the only alternative now is to spend a boatload of $$$ in free agency because our squad looks like crap for next season. mine as well call them the chicago knights. Guest
So I assume Mack will be their new starting 2B or at least a part of a platoon with the suddenly mediocre Marcus Giles. yup, watch a good team play him where he's SUPPOSED to play! the infield... stretchstretch
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Kenny must think there are only like 4 teams he can trade with. teams that have benefitted from trading with the Sox are more likely to do it again, Roward, Blum, El Duque paid off and those teams are coming back again
