fathom
- Get nothing at the trade deadline to help this team's future.....CHECK - Get stuck with Jose Contreras and 20 million dollars......CHECK - Contreras prove once and for all that he doesn't belong in the rotation.....CHECK - Gavin Floyd continue to show that he sucks.........CHECK - Cross-town rivals go into first place, as the bandwagon overflows.....CHECK Yep, this is just about the worst baseball day we've had yet during a horrible baseball season. kwolf68
I think we need to really try to get Jose Contreras those 20 losses.

I don't think we need to try to hard. Jose can do it on his own. At least " Super Grinder " got a hit

fathom
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 02:44 AM) They're not going anywhere in October, if they even get there. I wish I could agree with this, but they have the makings of a team that can do some damage. They have the best pitcher in baseball right now, and he can easily get them enough wins in the playoffs to make it so Lilly and company only have to split their games. Also, Marmol reminds me so much of K-Rod during the Angels run to the WS. Just my thinking, and I'd be so incredibly thrilled if I was wrong. I am guessing in Ames, Iowa you don't share an office with a bunch of obnoxious cubs fans who give you s*** every day about the Cubs being in/near first and the Sox sharing the cellar with the Royals. Personally I agree that they don't have legs in the playoffs but I would have said the same thing about the Cards last year..if Lilly/Marquis turn into Weaver/Suppan for two weeks in October stranger things can happen...and no one else in the NL seems close to dominating. All I wish is if we could have a box score where all the pitchers in the games ERAs aren't over 5.40...it is amazing to think it has come to this. fathom
Anyone else just see the Brewers get screwed by the umpire, and then Graffy hit a fly ball to the fence? Mercy, just one of those days.

fathom
QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 03:05 AM) Yeah, I don't understand why the umpire was so stubborn to not ask for help by the 1st base ump or 3rd base ump. He blew two calls that inning, and he has one of the smallest strike zones I've ever seen. Glavine might have walked 50 guys if the Brewers never swung. If they lose...great, if they win...oh well. Liar! You are used to living in Cardinal Nation already! Down in Southern IL now and everyone is back on the Cards bandwagon. They think they are the hottest team in baseball now. Told my uncle that I will believe it when they get to .500 and got lashed. They act like I don't want them to win, I mean if the Brewers fall, I want the Cardinals to win the division. Just gonna be hard without Carpenter and whatever Mulder brings back with him. Dick Allen
As bad as Contreras has been, Floyd is showing he's even worse. He gives up 3 bombs tonight and one ball that would have gone out of any other park in the league was a flyout. It seemed almost every out was a rocket. If KW continues to call him one of the top prospects in the game someone should take him away in a straightjacket.
BearSox
is anyone else really hoping we lose every game and get the worst record in baseball? You know, I can understand wanting to see the team win if we got quite a few prospects and were going to play them on the ML roster, cause you'd like to see the prospects develop and win at an ML level, but we only really have 2 position prospects worth a damn up right now, so it doesn't matter. As it stands right now, we really need the no. 1 pick and pray to god that the top player in the draft, probably Pedro Alveras, does not have Boras as their agent. But it looks like those bastard Devil Rays are gonna get the 1st pick again, and if not them it would be San Francisco. Well, here is to hoping we lose most of our games for the rest of the season.
