sayitaintso
QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) Ya because he was horrible before his injuries and our scouts should have known he'd get injured. Its one thing to blame scouts for bad picks that flame out, but not for players who show actual promis but get taken down by unforseen injuries (i.e Rauch, Honel, Wing, Stumm). Blaming scouts for Honel being a "bad first round pick" is just dumb Considering i was 11 when the sox drafted him and i had no idea who he was, how good he was/once was until i came onto this board 2 years ago, WHEN he was having his injury problems. All i was trying to say was that this was another wasted 1st round pick. Regardless if he was good or it was a very solid pick at the time, now its a wasted 1st round pick, which was all i was trying to point out. Every pick that you mentioned up there was by DS, so i was pointing out that he was picked by him too, and all of the picks you mentioned havent done anything for us ever (besides Rauch because he got us jurassic for the second time) are all wasted picks because they never ever helped out the major league club, which is an effect from bad scouting (DS) and unlucky injuries. sayitaintso
QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 02:14 AM) It's not like it was a bad pick. Honel's problem was injuries. He was once very highly regarded. Kinda sad, considering his potential and his relatively young age. I was going for a stab at Duane Schaffer. JPN366
Well, it's actually "retirement," not retirement. Apparently Kris just wanted out of the White Sox organization. They do not intend to stand in his way of continuing his career with another organization.
Ricky3353
i went to high school with Honel too, at Providence, and that kid could not be a bigger d-bag. Good ridence.
Jeremy
Some injuries are unforeseeable but it's worth noting that pitchers and high school pitchers in particular are far more likely to suffer career altering injuries than position players. Considering how weak the major league club is in the OF and at SS right now, I wish we'd spent a few more first round picks on position players. WhiteSoxfan1986
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 04:48 PM) mt. carmel? I went to De La Salle...I remember when we had a good baseball team... I played against De La Salle a couple of times, but I was on varsity a couple of years after Keefner and Bougusevic left.
