well, after the way MSU played BC, i think vatech's shining win didn't look as great. Plus the first game i saw VT play eastern carolina was handling them in the first half...so i've seen vatech play 4 times, 1 blowout loss, one win against bc, one loss against bc (who nearly lost to MSU), and one close game against eastern carolina. So no, i didn't think KU would get blown out, I thought they were good, I was glad we beat them and I thought it was as good a victory as any this year. KU did a much better job of getting their run game going, and I think that's when Reesing is his best. OF course, that's probably true for all QBs. As for VaTech, good D, not much of an offense. So, their D was facing an O that doesn't make mistakes, a team that doesn't make mistakes, and so takeaways were slim, and KU's d showed up big.

Because it is played in the same city/stadium as one of the games the week before. Need time for all the fans, media, etc. of the first game to vacate all the hotels so the ones for the Championship can come in. Basically makes it two separate events for the host city.

They need to change this. Having it so long after Jan 1 is dumb. The BCS bowls should be jan 1 (2), jan 2, jan 3, championship the 4th, at the latest. And if it ever conflicts with the NFL, figure something out with them to have this the night game and the NFL games during the day or something.

Last year the champ game was almost an afterthought because everyone had already dissected the Boise game for many days, and the momentum of the bowl season had come to a stop. I hate how it is right now.

For the record, I want to say that it doesn't prove they belonged as the espn.com front page says, but rather that they were a very good team this year. I've always thought (and think I might have said it here) that Kansas' d was better than its offense. Its offense plays clean and is above average, but not one of the top units in the country. The defense, however, is. The d pretty much outscored its offense tonight, partially because Va Tech's QBs suck and were mishandled (constantly switching is terrible), but that shows which side of the ball Kansas is better on to me.

It was ridiculously hard to watch that game, but part of me wanted Kansas to win to make up for Oklahoma looking like s*** yesterday. The Big 12 should be very interesting next year. Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech all return most of their core. Kansas will probably lose Talib to the draft, but should still be a top 25 team (much harder schedule next year). Colorado should be better by a little bit and Nebraska can't be worse. I think Texas is gonna have a hard time in the Big 12 for the first time in a while with Charles gone.

KU won the orange bowl with 1 and 2 star recruits, the coaching staff did a wonderful job.....Talib will go pro and be replaced with Stuckey or Ryan Murphy. Hell, we only lose 5 starters in general!!!!!

Wow, I didn't know the team was that young. McAnderson and Henry are gone, which hurts big time though. McAnderson might be replacable because I don't think he was that great, might be the o-line making him look good or teams keying on the pass. It's hard to predict a season that good again, I'm not sure I can pull the trigger on thinking Missouri will win more than 10 games even with all their guys coming back.

McAnderson is slow and fat, Angus Quigley(sexy name) will replace him.

Derek Fine will be replaced by Tim Biere.

Anthony Collins(Junior, draft status unkown)...we just signed a 4 star JUCO Left Tackle. Kid is an australian rugby player, yikes

James McClinton Dtackle.......replacements are already on team.

Aqib...already noted above

oh and the punter and kicker

Who knows how good they will be next year, but this was a really fun and surprising year.

dont they lose a bunch on defense....and to be honest Colt Mccoy sucks.

I could be wrong. I watch a couple Texas games a year because they are one of the few college teams I don't mind and I swear I heard the announcers say they will have most of there good players back and are going to be a title contender next year. I know USC will probably be #1 and Texas Tech/Mizzu will be top 10 when the season is done, imo.

Big 12 will be the best conference in the country.

quiet the big 10 fans must be sleeping....I would rather have Todd Reesing or Chase Daniels over Juice Williams any day of the week.

Juice Williams blows. I'm a big 10 fan too, but he is so over-rated. He is a great talent and a horrid QB. Thanks to him and the one dimensional Illinois offense my Hawkeyes were able to get a win over the Illini. McGee is the better long term answer.

Illinois is definitely heading in the right direction. They are getting the best talent in the country on a regular basis thanks to Zook. While Zook will never be a national champion coach, he has Illinois at a level they have never been at (I know Turner took them to a rose bowl, but they didn't recruit like this) and that alone will make them consistently competitive and for all you know at that point the Illini may be able to get another coach that could maybe bring them to the next level).

But good god, Juice throws about as good as I throw and he is a far cry from Mike Vick in terms of athletism. I give him credit, but thankfully for Illini fans they had Mendenhall, Benn and a pretty athletic defense.

Yeah, agreed on McCoy sucking. Along with Charles they lose their top WR this year to go with Limas Sweed who got hurt midway through the year. They lose all 3 of their 1st team All Big 12 guys (Charles, DB Marcus Griffin, and an OL). Their 2 2nd team Big 12 guys, both DL including Frank Okam, are gone. They lose a few more key contributors. 3 of their starting secondary. It would be completely foolish to say they are going to be bad next year because they are Texas, they have the talent to replace these guys. However, with the focus of their offense this season gone, noticeable losses elsewhere, and Colt McCoy still starting at QB they can definitely struggle by their standards in what should be a strong year for the Big 12.

Talking about returning a lot of players, can anyone guess which team this is...

1) They just won 10 games.

2) They return their top 3 RBs, top 4 WRs, and all 5 O-lineman.

3) They do, however, lose the QB who was a 3 1/2 year starter for them.

4) On defense, they lose their two starting DE's. However, those two guys coupled for the lowest sack total for both DE's in years for this program. 5 sacks and 12.5 TFL combined for both starting DE's. The top backup DE had 4 sacks and 12 TFL by himself.

5) They return their top 3 DTs.

6) They return their 1st team all-conference MLB as well as their 2nd team all-conference WILL.

7) They lose their SAM, but he was the "3rd" LB of the corps this year. Easily replaceable with a former 5-star, Sophomore-to-be waiting in the wings for next year.

8) They lose one of their starting Safeties, but return every other DB that got ample PT. Both starting (freshman) CBs, the nickle back, and the dime back. Also, a starting Safety from a year ago is said to be re-applying for admission to the school, and it's believed he'll be back on the team.

9) They also return their kicker and punter (both were named 2nd team all-conference).

Pretty stacked team, eh?

Yep, it's Tennessee.

Of the 24 starters, they only lose 6, most of which will be replaced by better players next year.

The SEC East is gonna be so stacked next year.

Big 12 will be the best conference in the country.

If I had to venture a guess, OSU and USC would be playing in the title game next year. Pac 10 just blows so unless USC chokes against a team like Stanford again you might as well just pencil them into the title game because the Pac-10 is becoming a joke in terms of conference depth.

OSU will return basically everyone from a team that this was supposed to be their "off year". If you look back to the start of the year most experts said it would be next years OSU team that really was dominating, so the fact that they already are in the NC game is scarey.

As for the Big 10, it will most likely be a down year. OSU should be better, Wisconsin will be better, Illinois will be worse, PSU will be worse, and my gut feeling is that Michigan will be worse as well.

Im not that impressed with the Big 12 though. OK their "top team" got smoked by a Big East school. Kansas played against a team representing what appears to be the worst conference (BC barely beat an unranked MSU team).

Id say that the SEC will be the best conference next year, followed by a bunch of conferences with 1-2 good teams and a bunch of mediocre.
