Rex Hudler
QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Well, this bowl season absolutely sucked. I thought the Capitol One Bowl was great!
RockRaines
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:50 PM) Absolutely but Todd Boeckman simply should not be the QB of a team in the NC game. He holds the ball way too long and makes awful decisions under pressure. Haven't been impressed with him at all regardless of what his numbers were. Another comment after watching tonights game, in this day an age your QB absolutely has to be mobile with the speed of a lot of these defenses (unless you just have overwhelming talent surrounding him like USC with Leinart). He played like a typical 1st year QB. Not great. They were here a year early, and I believe he is a platoon next season with Henton.
danman31
Final polls are out. AP Poll and Coaches' Poll Very pleased to see Mizzou top 5 in both polls. Surprised to see Florida a few spots ahead of Michigan considering they have the same record and Michigan won head to head. Weird to see Texas finish in the top 10 after the way they played this year. Hard to argue with it though, maybe BC. I think I already put too much thought into the postseason poll. Let's get next year started.
Palehosefan
TTU finished #22, #23, which is decent, but I expected a little higher. Still, not bad being the 2nd youngest team in college behind Temple. Next year should be a lot of fun. I like Stewart Mandel's vote, :-) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...rankings/1.html Edited January 8, 2008 by Palehosefan

ChWRoCk2
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) I thought the Capitol One Bowl was great! That was a great game. For the most part I would agree with the majority that this bowl season was kind of watered down with all the lopsided matchups. The only games I really enjoyed were the Gator Bowl, Motor City, Orange Bowl, Champs Sports, Chick Fil A, Outback. Thats about it though. I would have to imagine USC and Georgia are pretty big favorites next year to reach the NTL Championship game both teams are returning a number of players for next year, I suppose WVU if Pat White and Slaton return. danman31
Yeah, here are some of the early preseason rankings I've found. Rivals has USC #1, Georgia #2. Stewart Mandel of SI has Georgia 1, OSU 2.
RockRaines
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) Yeah, here are some of the early preseason rankings I've found. Rivals has USC #1, Georgia #2. Stewart Mandel of SI has Georgia 1, OSU 2. OSU should be right up there regardless of all of the "beatdown" articles writers are putting on the internet for attention today. They have only 3 seniors on the roster, and one of the top classes in the country coming in next year. If some of the juniors stay, they will be right on schedule to contend in 2008 like they were supposed to, if not there are replacements waiting in the wings, I actually think fr Sabino is going to end up being better than JL, Mike Adams should take Kirk Barton's spot on the line, and Posey should bring another WR to the mix. Rex Hudler
FYI, if the Plus 1 system was in place this year, the matchups would have been as follows: 1. Ohio State vs. 4. Oklahoma 2. LSU vs. 3. VA Tech USC and Georgia should all just shut the f*** up. I know they were playing well at the end of the year, but they didn't do enough to belong, even in the Plus 1 model. It's easy crowing from the outside.
Soxbadger
Georgia should just go f*** itself. Im so sick of their bulls***, they didnt even win their own conference. HOW ARE YOU MORE DESERVING THAN LSU WHO WON YOUR CONFERENCE? Why dont you go b**** at the SEC.

Correct, and I agree, because they had their chances. The one thing that SEC teams in general can 'b****' about is the fact that their conference is the best conference in the nation, pretty much year in and year out. Almost every game is a 'losable' one. And when it comes to bowl season and championships, they've really shown that they are elite. I'm in favor of a final four, but they need to fix the conference championship/no conference championship issue.

Hell, LSU won their conference championship game with their backup QB. USC couldn't beat Stanford with their backup. LSU had their best WR miss several games, their QB injured a couple of times, completely missing the SEC Championship, their All-American DT out and ineffective while playing with a bad knee from a cheap chop block, and others as well. LSU's injuries were equal to that of USC's so that crap doesn't fly. Wanna whine about injuries, see Michigan! The only game they were completely healthy all year was their bowl game. It still may have ended up OSU v LSU though. One of the reasons that I like the playoff is that it gives teams at least one game to warm back up after the layoff. Heads22
Iowa State reportedly will get a transfer from Florida RB Bo Williams...he was the #16 RB nationally coming out of high school. It makes for a decent backfield class for Chizik, between Williams, a 4 star who will have 3 years left, and Jeremiah Schwartz, the nation's #3 FB. http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=49336
