BearSox
The Birmingham Barons are apparently playing the Diamondbacks AA affiliate as Aaron Cunningham is playing CF. 0-3 tonight so far. But on the season as a whole, he has batted .315 with 12 homers and 59 rbi's. Plus 27 SB in 38 attempts with 39 walks compared to 65 K's. .378 OBP and .885 OPS. Don't get me wrong, I like Richar, but I liked Cunningham more, and I really wish we could have keep him. I really wouldn't mind KW pulling a Gio with him in the offseason. BigEdWalsh
Birmingham wound up winning 6-4, Whisler (6-11, 5.09) got the W. Great Falls is up 12-5 in the 8th. They've pounded out 17 hits. Mead and Paiml are both 4-5 with 2 doubles. GF has been a fun team to follow this year. They have some talented prospects. NorthSideSox72
Interesting to note: Ryan Smith has started at catcher for Charlotte for 4 of the last 5 games (Ricks started the other, but Smith came in for him and played most of that game too), despite being a .113 hitter and having Wiki still on the roster. One wonders if Wiki is hurt, even though he isn't listed as being on the DL. Also, Wiki is not on the 40 man roster - is that a recent thing? Doesn't he have to be on the 40-man? I think its the type of deal that works out for both squads, but man I really think Richar has all the tools.
