StrangeSox
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) all of them. I think organized religion should be ilegal. Christians make me sick. So you'll chastise people in one thread as racists, but openly admit bigotry and hatred towards another broad, diverse group in another thread? Sorry kap, amoebas have better logic than that. So you do not have a value system? No core beliefs? No personal basis for what is right or wrong? I'll exit quickly here. You would feel too threatened to discuss this. What is it about some people's values and moral basis that makes you sick? You are trying to push your values and morals on us, and want to be listened to, shouldn't you have the same respect to listen to others? Are yours more valid because you aren't Christian? Whoa, whoa, whoa! I wasn't the one saying "Christians make me sick" or that organized religion should be banned. Quite the opposite. I fully support an individual's rights to believe whatever they want to believe and to belong to any religion they want.
GoSox05
well I may be an Ameoba, but your the one's getting all goofy about my ridiculous posts. I don't think that religion should be ilegal. I just ask that you stop trying to make me join all the time. But to what Texsox said about not having core beliefs and a basis for what is right or wrong. I don't think you need religion to tell you what is right or wrong. Some people might, but I don't feel I do.

knightni
Religion is the basis of all morality and laws. So, if you don't want to believe that the government is influenced by religion, go shoot a guy and see what happens. Texsox
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 01:38 PM) Personally, I haven't. It's your choice. Interesting that most people do not object to an invitation to attend a baseball game, a restaurant, or movie, but some will to an invitation to attend Church. I wonder why that is? Would I be trying to convince you to be Italian by heading to Olive Garden?

So, if you don't want to believe that the government is influenced by religion, go shoot a guy and see what happens. So you need a religion or a god to tell you that killing someone is bad? kapkomet
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 06:44 PM) Why than would someone invite me to church? Inviting you is different then handcuffing you and making you go. You have the right to say no, and I'd respect that. It's between you and whatever higher power you believe in, or don't believe in. I'd invite you, and respect you just the same if you said no. It's your life, and it's definitely your choice. I'm glad that we live here and can make those choices. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 01:47 PM) What concern of the consequences would there be if there was no fear of retribution? Well, I will pipe in here. I personally do not feel that one needs God, or any sort of religion, to know right from wrong. I like to think I act rightly not just out of fear, but of an internal desire to not hurt people. Of course, that internal desire may be directly linked to God, in some peoples' eyes. Texsox
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) Why than would someone invite me to church? Fellowship. Hear a good speaker. Entertainment. I attend different services all the time with friends and never feel any pressure to convert. Why would you invite someone to a movie? Why would you tell someone about a TV show you like? Now if you are talking strangers with tracts and witnessing on the streets, I pass them by in a heartbeat. I use to ride with the Christian Motorcycle Association and invited friends all the time on our rides. It is a great group of people, we had interesting rides, and somehow always knew the best food stops. I didn't expect them to suddenly start attending a Church. knightni
How would you know "right" or "wrong" without a value system? Basically, you'd do whatever you wanted until someone with a value system came to arrest you.
