If I were GM

Trade Borchard, Rauch, and Jimenez/Harris/Miles/Hummel(choose one) for Beltran(throw in Rivera that catcher that the Sox just got if that isn't enough). KC gets young, cheap, players that are ready to contribute and fill weakness. The Sox finally get the true CF that they have been lacking for years. Adding him to the current roster should make the Sox the favorites to come out of the Central and it appears that the Sox are making a run at it this year. If the Sox can just find a way to get into the playoffs anything can happen ala the Angels last year.

Its time to get a little realistic. There is no way that the Sox could afford to keep all of the players. Unfortunately the Sox will most likely let Colon go although I would love to keep him(at least they will get some compensation). The Sox then trade Maggs to a team like the Padres(since he said he wants to play there). The Sox ask for Vazquez and 2 good starting pitching prospects in the upper minors or currently in the majors. This should free up enough money to give Beltran his 12-14 m/yr that he is looking for. It also nets the Sox the SS for the future. Some might question why trade for Beltran and then turn around and trade Maggs, but here are 4 reasons why.

1) Age. He is 3 years younger. Maggs is in the middle of his prime, while Beltran is just entering his.

2) Defense. Maggs is a solid defensive corner outfielder, but Beltran is one of the top defensive CF's. I am a firm believe in being strong up the middle.

3) Speed. Maggs has a 20/20 season to his credit, but Beltran might be the best baserunner and most effective basestealer in the game. His SB/CB ratio is amazing.

4) Walks. The one area of Maggs game that is lacking is his patience and at his age he will probably not improve. Beltran has seen his walk total increase each year.

The cost about the same. Maggs CURRENTLY has a little more power and hits for a little better average, but that might change if this season is any indication. The Sox would also get 2 solid pitching prospects in return for 1. They trade from strengths in the minor league system as well. 2B is a strength in the Sox system so losing one guy isn't a huge lose. I am beginning to lose faith in Borchard. He still has potential, but at 25 he has seen his numbers fall the last 2 years. Vazquez probably could be had with the emergence of top SS prospect Greene. I think these moves would drasticly improve this team. It is just me playing a little fantasy GM so don't take it too serious. What do you guys think?

On a different note I just heard that the Sox just got Everett. Does anyone know who they gave up? I heard 3 prospects(hopefully no top prospects). I would assume that a couple(if not all) of them are pitchers. Do you guys like the trade? It appears that the Sox are making a run this year and this trade just made the Sox favorites to win the division. I think it is a good move as long as the Sox didn't give up a top prospect. This division is for the taking and getting to the playoffs is the main goal and would be a huge boast for this organization. What do you guys think about KW? BBT thinks that he has made some great moves and even called him a GOOD GM.

Sorry for the length.
